Not really...for the better part of the last 6 months, we've been promised a new FW release, but nothing as of yet.

I've been known to submit a few support tickets to them in the last few months...and it's always the same answer "we're in the final testing phase" and "we should release one soon" but, still, I wasn't given a particular date.

I suggest you also submit a support ticket and see if you might be able to obtain different information; then you can perhaps report back to this forum for wider knowledge...

Tack så mycket!

Mikael "

Nice try, but I've been putting "pressure" on them for months with no results. Why this is dragging on for so long, nobody knows. I'm pretty sure a 3rd party is working on the update, and the people you contact at Cambridge have no direct contact so they only tell you what's being passed on to them. It's been in the "final touches" stage for 2 months now.

Still, I didn't get that impression upon avforum thread. Seems legit.

got just now a reply from Cambridge:

"Dear Mikael,

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

Although the CXUHD was discontinued in late 2018, we have been working on an update which we did hope to have released by now. Unfortunately, there are delays and we apologise for this, however, they are unforeseen and unavoidable.

If you have any other questions, please let me know."

I don't think so.

So many different pictures with both English and Chinese UI:

Don’t think Chinese sites share rumors? Look at the April 15 images on Avforums, yes it’s the same images except for ID. Look at the boot up image with menu same exact reflected room 3 months earlier. Yep its recycled images even!

Sure, any forum (the nationality is not relevant) can share rumors.

However I don't understand your arguments.
If you take my 3 links and your link, in total there are 15 pictures. They are all different, obviously taken in different places with different cameras: different angle, color, distortion, sharpness etc...

Moreover, only one of them shows a room reflection (https://www.avforums.com/attachments...m-jpg.1140502/).

Please elaborate.

We were originally discussing avforums posts on July 8. If you note three of them are the same as April 15. Still no bird in the hand anyway you look at it.

Either way we're looking at it, it's just liberious speculation.

CA tech support has, on numerous occasions, stated that they will release a new FW update for the CXUHD. The fact that their release process is slow as molasses only helps fuel ingenious conjectures. Unless CA's purpose is to blatantly lie to their clients and spread bad information, I'm pretty certain that they will 'eventually' release a new firmware that should put the CXUHD on par with the 203 in all of the key aspects. It's simply a matter of time. Sure, Mr. Creeps on the home page is a little weird but I can live with it...it's LLDV support that I personally want.

Even as is, the CXUHD is a spectacular product, with only a handful other 4k players besting it, and primarily because they offer LLDV (Oppo 203/205, Pioneer LX500, UB9000). Horses for courses.

If you have been waiting this long, you definitely can wait another 2 months. I am also considering going with another player (not Panasonic) but I will also wait until the end of summer to make this decision.

Also just loaded CXUHDCU-66-0614. The home screen graphic is gone (don't understand why you guys hated him so much, thought he added a touch of class). Still can't fast-forward, rewind, or pause gapless audio which I was told was to be part of this update.

Exactly really stupid support...
I have already sold the cxuhd and ordered the ub9000
When i saw the post with the new update... Well i said nooooooo but just after that i realized i have done the right thing since i don't expect they will issue updates for disc compatibility and bugs on a product that got discontinued....

But good luck guys and enjoy the new firmware!!

I understand why some people might not like the background with the dude, but to replace it with a plain black background? Really? Either keep it or do what OPPO did with the nature backgrounds.

Exciting news!!!

I was really thinking that this FW would have resulted in quite a bit more activity given its long awaited release.

Anywho - I’m out of town till next week, so I can’t test it. Can’t wait to test LLDV for my Sony TV - anyone with a Sony TV report how that is working

Anywho - I’m out of town till next week, so I can’t test it. Can’t wait to test LLDV for my Sony TV - anyone with a Sony TV report how that is working

I only tried one disc really quick last night, it works fine both player and TV recognize DV right away, no need to change any settings and looks pretty good too.

Excellent- I appreciate the feedback!

So, with this update, is the CXUHD now on par with the 203? Who is in the know? Me thinks we have some owners with both units...

Have no idea on that comparison. For example several of the changes come from the 66-0614 come from way back with Oppo Jan 2018 beta/Mar 2018 release such as
  • Added Support for slow motion playback in A-B repeat mode.
  • Added three HDR to SDR modes to improve HDR to SDR conversion. (Oppo had 4 modes)

This is even older actually from Oppo August 2017 FW.
  • Added TV Aspect Ratio modes “21:9 Movable, 21:9 Fixed and 21:9 Cropped”.

June 2018 for Oppo was the Added Dolby Vision support for Sony TV.
Dec 2018 beta/Feb 2019 Official was HDR10+ added.

There are a lot of things added/changed with Oppo FW, so because the players have different operation because of involved CCA's (no analog) don't expect it all.

As for the bearded man home menu screen you guys don't have our pretty one, all you got is no graphic background. Yeah thanks for nothing right? But you do have some popular adds now!

Thanks for your initial feedback!

So all is good, everyone is happy with their release? They didn’t take anything away?

Let’s keep the impressions coming guys...I’m not in town so I can’t play with the update. It’s sort of killing me, but I know CA did right by us with this release. They should given their latency
