Just an FYI for anyone who's on the fence about buying a CXUHD. Crutchfield received a batch about 2 weeks ago after they were sold out for a period of time. They have only 16 left as of this morning, and I've been seeing them sell 2-3 daily for the last week. Since Cambridge shows "out of stock" on their website. I'm thinking this might be it.

Cambridge confirmed that they are out of stock and won't be making any more. Listenup and a few other scattered dealers still have stock in addition to Crutchfield. I'll bet they're all going to be gone in 1-2 months, and then it's only high price auction sites like we've seen with the Oppo's.

That's bad. Keeping everything from Oppo and skipping one of the unique features is stupid thing IMO

It should. It's done with the zoom botton.
Cambridge
Zoom
To change the zoom level, press the Zoom button on the remote control repeatedly
pressing the Zoom button will switch the zoom level in the following sequence:
1:1 (No zoom), Stretch/Compress, Full Screen, Under Scan, 1.2X, 1.3X, 1.5X,
2X, 1/2X.

Oppo
The available zoom levels depend on the TV Aspect Ratio setting in the Setup Menu and the encoded
aspect ratio on the BD/DVD Disc:
1:1 (No zoom), Stretch/Compress, Full Screen, Under Scan, 1.2X, 1.3X, 1.5X, 2X, 1/2X

I requested that Cambridge Audio add the 21:9 zoom modes for CIH setups and they confirmed that it will be included in the next firmware release for the CXUHD.

I was actually looking for a used Oppo because of this reason. I will just wait and buy a new CXUHD if they actually release this firmware. My understanding is that 2018 JVC projectors have this mode in built so may not need either with the new projectors.

They will definitely release the firmware, they just don't have a firm release date yet. If you want to buy the CXUHD, I wouldn't wait too long. They will be sold out in the next couple months. And even though their $699 price is more than the Oppo 203 was, ($549 when they were in production and available) they are actually less $ than a used Oppo 203 right now.

Yes. They will no longer be producing the CXUHD, and Cambridge has no more stock on hand. Only the retailers that currently have stock, and as soon as those are sold-No more. (At least no more new units from Authorized dealers)

Interested in getting one of these, quick question regarding play back from usb.
Does it bitstream content from usb and network.
I read that the Oppo 203 does so I assume that the Cambridge will do also.
I have some files with Dolby Atmos which I would like to play via usb or hard drive.

No analog outputs, no rear IR input, and no mobile application on the CXUHD. Many reviewers have criticized the CXUHD remote but I actually prefer it to the Oppo.

Do i really need analog outputs, or rear IR input, and the mobile application i can live with out. I am really after it's USB playback features.
Going to hook this up to my Denon AVR X-2400h receiver

I would imagine Listenup will transfer some of their stock to Amazon soon, but you can see how many sold at Amazon and Crutchfield in the last 23 hours.

I have to make a decision, i can get a hold of the last Oppo 203 in Australia, should i get the oppo or should i get the Cambridge.
Is one better than the other, i saw a review on streaming over the network on the Oppo 203 with larger MKV files and it seemed to struggle, does the Cambridge have the same issue ?
Can someone sway me either way, i am torn between the two units and am not sure which way i should go.

Snag that 203. The Oppo does everything the CXUHD does but not vice-versa.

The CXUHD firmware lags well behind Oppos.

I've owned the Cambridge Audio CXUHD for about 2 weeks and haven’t had any issues at all. Plays everything I wanted extremely well. I like almost everything about it except I am not fond of the remote and I wish it had a USB on the front.

However, the fact that Cambridge Audio is done making these has me concerned about the future firmware updates and overall maintenance if there are issues. Will there be parts if needed?

Panasonic is set to release the UB9000 next month. Although it will be (for me) about $300 more expensive than the CA I wonder if it will be a better overall unit and have better future support thru firmware.
I realize no one knows how the Panasonic will perform yet, but any opinions on how the two would compare with each other?
Thanks!

Do you need SACD and DVD-A playback? If not I’d lean towards Panny. The HDR optimizer on the Panny will provide a little better picture quality.
Cambridge would get the nod if you need servicing and updates. They’re a higher end customer oriented company while Panny is a giant behemoth. They have their share of complaints for bad service and FW updates that stop quickly after their players are released.
Build quality for both is top notch, so you’re getting a TOTL player in either case. The question about the UB9000 is if you would want to spend the extra money over the UB820. Otherwise, you’re paying $500 for a more solid chassis and better (CD only) audio section. Otherwise, you can get the same features on the already released 820.

Does the Cambridge have the same (broken) tone-mapping and HDR>SDR conversion, Dolby Vision capability, and HDMI input capabilities (i.e. being able to process the HDMI input in various ways) as the Oppo?

I understand the mobile app won't work on the Cambridge - is this accurate?

Apparently one cannot flash the Oppo FW to the Cambridge, and the latest Cambridge FW appears older than the newest official Oppo FW (which isn't all that new). Any chance there will actually be another update before support ceases? I realize this would be a guess, but still appreciated.

Thanks!

Well no I do not need SACD or DVD-A support so that wouldn’t be a factor in my decision. And after looking at the latest firmware updates the Cambridge was last April while the Oppo was just this past June. That indicates to me that Cambridge Audio may not update as often as some others. It could also mean that their firmware update in April addressed any problems and there hasn't been much that needs fixing since.

The Panasonic UB820 I am still interested in, and from all I have read is truly a great player. My main hesitation on that one is that I really like the much better build quality of the two more expensive units. Also I much prefer the disc loading arrangement (without the added front panel), and the better display of the UB900 and the Cambridge.
I really appreciate your input on this!
