Well, for one thing a lot of people aren't aware they even exist. And two, the Oppo 203 is still preferred, as long as the prices are close to the same. These will be gone soon however as stock is drying up.

Apparently one cannot flash the Oppo FW to the Cambridge, and the latest Cambridge FW appears older than the newest official Oppo FW (which isn't all that new). Any chance there will actually be another update before support ceases? I realize this would be a guess, but still appreciated.

Thanks!
I ordered one of the last ones from Crutchfield Thursday and got it today. After connecting to the Internet it prompted a firmware update 2x and after updating still doesn't have any of the Dolby Vision settings, HDMI input settings or the 4 different modes for HDR->SDR conversion. I think the current firmware is more like 2 updates behind the Oppo.

Thanks for this information.

I have one on the way from them also.

Hopefully Cambridge will get their act together and at least get all the "latest" improvements together and make that FW available.

I sent an email last week asking about just that - haven't heard back yet. Maybe if they get a few more emails along the same lines they might see it through. Not familiar with Cambridge so really don't know how responsive they have been historically.

I probably won't open the box until I see they've released a FW that brings it to the Oppo's last level of refinement.

The real question would be can you downgrade the boot loader and flash oppo FW via ttl on the debug port?

It is the same way you convert a chinese / au / eu to us and vice versa hence opening up the possibility of JB options on the Cambridge.

They are probably more similar than we are led to believe.

If it is the same Mediatek chipset this is a very real possibility.

Music Direct is now sold out, and Listenup only has a few left that will most likely be gone by the end of the day. If you're on the fence, you'd better make a move or it will be eBay only at inflated prices.

I just received this response from Cambridge Audio in regards to my questions about Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It sounds very encouraging to me. ++++

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

We are currently working on an update for the CXUHD that should be released in the very near future. We plan on adding support Dolby Vision as well as HDR10+.

We appreciate your input and your patience and hope to get to these features out to you as soon as we can.
Best Regards,

Best Regards,
I had pointed out to them that the FW version for the CXUHD was behind the last Oppo update, and asked when that would be rectified; the response I received today is below:

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

A new firmware update for the CXUHD is currently being worked on. Unfortunately I don't have a set release date for it yet.

Thank you and we hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Cambridge Audio

Sounds promising, but it would be above my pay grade.

It seems to me that it wouldn't make sense for the Oppo and Cambridge to require substantially different firmware for substantially similar (or the same) hardware. Obviously minus the analog outs...

No price talk or street price talk. MSRP is $699. Since this is an owner's thread, site owner's also frown upon where to buy posts.

Don't forget that CA is a small company and that it's core business is audio, not video... by the way, I talked with someone that is involved with them at a business level, and he had no news on. new firmwares... the reason why the CA is getting scarse is not due to CA itself, but to the Chinese firm that assembled them; apparently the same that made the Oppos...

If true that's not surprising, considering that the 203 and the CA are essentially based on the same design...

I got two 203s and 1 CA...

So, then, can we say with confidence that the CXUHD is out of production and out of stock at retail??

I would say so other than a few boutique B&M dealers that may still have minimal stock.

Good to hear the update is coming soon. I have a brand new still in the sealed box CXUHD and I use a CIH screen with a JVC X750R projector. I'm totally out of the Oppo UHD corner now as I have sold both my 203 and 205. Still have a 103D that I'm keeping however. Love the Darbee effect at 35%. Wish the tone mapping issue could be resolved, but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Lexicon.......a name you can trust!!
At least it shows you what the OPPO'S are really worth!
To bad they under valued their players.....could have been a different story.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the moderator (No, this is not a discussion of "street price"), it appears the MSRP is not $699 but is now $799 as I just purchased one directly from the Cambridge website.

They have them in stock.

Looks like Cambridge themselves came up with some additional stock, although they raised the MSRP up it appears. They have 16 available as of right now.
