Possible HDMI I/O issue

I have a brand new Marantz 8805 pre and CXHUD player and i'm experimeting what could be an issue with the HDMI video I/O. The vpr is an "old" Jvc RS-57E, the new 4k native Jvc is on my list as soon as it will be available. The 8805 is connected to the vpr with a 66ft HDMI fiber cable Ruipro. The CXUHD is connected to the 8805 with a very short hdmi premium certified cable. The RS-57 even if not native 4k can accept 4k signals (no hdr 10/12bit etc.). This is the issue i'm experimenting:

- Cambridge CXUHD directly connected to vpr with 66ft fiber cable= 4K OK
- 8805 connected to vpr with 66ft fiber cable= 4K upscaling of 1080p input signals OK
- Cambridge CXUHD connected to 8805= not possible to select a 4k output on the player, it keeps saying that the connected gear is not 4K capable, only on start screen it works, on video reproduction it reverts to 108024p and there's no way to force it

Before you ask i have epxerimented with a variety of "premium 4K" hdmi cables from player to receiver (max 5ft lenght).

Any suggestion? I'm posting this on the 8805 thread too

We are expecting to have some in stock on our website in the coming weeks however we don't have an exact date for this. I suggest you check the CXUHD product page in the coming weeks, you'll know the player is in stock when the "Add To Cart" function is available. As for a replacement model, we currently don't have anything in the works.”

I’m definitely disappointed and wonder how much longer they will be updating firmware or offering support for current owners...
Being an "Oppo based" player it will probably follow the Oppo fate and firmware. If they will ever release the promised HDR10+ update for the Oppo i expect the same for Cambridge.

I can confirm (from insider source at CA) that the player is discontinued, no longer available... and any firmware development is most likely stopped...

Being an Oppo clone there is no surprise in the demise...

Picture settings over HDMI IN

I would like to know if there's a way to use the player picture settings (contrast, sharpness, etc.) over the HDMI INPUT. I see only Zoom and 3D options. With the Oppo if i'm not wrong you can use the picture settings over hdmi in.

At the moment no. The firmware they are supposed to be releasing will add the Sony Dolby Vision implementation.

Yesterday, out of curiosity, i've checked with the player if a new firnmware was released. To my surprise the player would not connect to check firmware, but everything worked great lan etc. It seems to me that they have dismissed the server for realising firmware updates. Hope i'm wrong , i really need the Sony DV update (among other things to line up with the Oppo actual firmware).

Here's what i received back from them today so we should be okay.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

Yes, we are going to release a firmware update that will make the CXUHD compatible with Sony TV Dolby Vision. Unfortunately we don't have a set release date yet. It's in its final stages, so it will be in the near future, but we don't have any expected date or release window yet. Another customer asked so I asked our engineering team if there was any update. I'll let you know when I hear from them.

Thank you and I'll get back to you soon.

Best Regards,

Joseph Buechel

I've been asking them about the update on a regular basis as well. I think they were getting ready to release an update a couple months ago, then they decided to add the DV updates too so it was delayed further.

Unhappy Cambridge Audio Output Problem

Hello all,

I bought a new CXUHD a few days ago, but having problem with the HDMI audio out.

I connected one HDMI to TV, and one HDMI to my RZ 3100 onkyo AV receiver
I have set the audio option to bitstream

there is no sound coming out from the A/V AMP.
If I turn off the AV amp, the sound comes out from the TV speakers (soundbar)

When I connect the main HDMI only to the AV AMP, everything works.

anybody have this problem before?

Please help. thanks!

DV Update for CXUHD

Here is what they told me:

Joseph Buechel (Cambridge Audio)

Dec 28, 16:47 GMT

Hello Bill,

I do apologize for the firmware taking so long to be approved.

If it were up to me it would already be released. However, it isn't up to me and is pending approval by multiple parties. I will contact our engineering team to see if there is any update, but I don't think there will be. We are being completely honest with you and the firmware update to make the CXUHD compatible with Sony TV Dolby Vision will be released. I will let you know if there is any update.

Thank you and I'll get back to you soon.

Best Regards,

Joseph Buechel

I suggest we keep asking them! It's been too long for this !

At this point more than the Sony DV update i would like to see other "small" updates similar to the Oppo. There are little things that annoy me as the missing picture settings control on the hdmi input. Anyway the PQ of this player is simply amazing (imho a bit better than the Oppo) and until today it is solid as a rock in playing discs and files (mostly 4K) over my nas.

You have to individually configure HDMI outputs , as to what function each has to do, in the setup settings of player. Thats what i did on my Lg UP970.

Oppo Released the Latest Public Beta Test Version for UDP 203:

Release date: December 28, 2018.

Category: Latest Public Beta Test Release

Release Notes:

This release is for the OPPO UDP-20x 4K UHD Blu-ray Disc Player.

Comparing to the current Official release version UDP20X-60-0625, the major changes included in this version are:

1. Added the HDR10+ support. A HDR10+ enabled TV is required to view content in HDR10+.
2. Added the "HDMI IN BYPASS" mode for Dolby Vision passthrough via HDMI In.

3. General fixes and disc compatibility improvements based on recent and upcoming UHD Blu-ray releases as well as user-submitted samples.

I think only when Oppo gives a stable official release version, we will get our firmware.
May be wait of another 1-2 months.

Sony 55A8F OLED TV, Sony X900E LCD TV, Yamaha RX-A3050 reciever, Epson 5300 1080p projector, SVS Ultra Tower Surround Sound 7.1.2 system, SVS PB2000 Subwoofer, SVS SB1000 Subwoofer, Marantz UD7007 Universal Disc Player, LG UP970 UHD Player, Braun 16:9 projector screen.

May be way too long.

Oppo released Sony TV Dolby Vision profile support with firmware Release Date: June 29, 2018.

I wonder whats wrong with Cambridge audio.

They charge premium prices only to give poor customer support?

Hello Bill,

I contacted our engineering team and there is still no news on a release date for the Dolby Vision firmware.

I understand your frustration, but as I've said it really isn't up to us right now. Nevertheless, I will keep in touch with our engineering team regularly and as soon as I know anything about when it will be released you will be the first person I tell.

Thank you and we hope you have a happy holiday.

Hallo all,

I am going to buy a new CXUHD player but before doing that I need to understand if HDMI input works with 4K HDR signals.

Does anybody know if I can connect an AppleTV 4K to HDMI input of the CXUHD?
Will the CXUHD passtrough 4K HDR?
Will I be able to use the CXUHD video processing settings in order to tune the 4K HDR from my ATV?

Hope somebody can help, thanks in advance,

Federico

I'd bet it's stuck somewhere in engineering process right now. Engineering processes can be tedious, but this is also starting to drag on definitely. I'm sure they're getting asked by a bunch of us when the firmware update that's been promised will happen. He appears to be a customer service rep at Cambridge Audio USA. If it was up to the customer service rep, we'd probably have the update already.

I don't know how you're going to do that other than inflated prices on secondary market.

Several days ago CA's website had a few in stock for the supposedly last batch. I've been watching and refreshing as I went back and forth about whether to buy one or not. I decided not to, but kept watching anyway. They went out of stock about 2-3 days ago.

Confident to find some units available here.
There are few for sale in online auction sites, but I don't think Cambridge USA or any Authorized dealers have any more new stock.

Will the CXUHD passtrough 4K HDR?

Will I be able to use the CXUHD video processing settings in order to tune the 4K HDR from my ATV?

Hope somebody can help, thanks in advance,

I have my Apple TV hooked up to the HDMI in on the Cambridge. It does work; however I’m having issues with the Apple TV freezing up. This has nothing to do with the Cambridge and I am waiting in a replacement unit from Apple.

how come their website doesn't show the manual or what the remote looks like nor is there any PDF file on the zoom in of the unit? do these people have something to hide? they are the only brand who does this
