The 9000 has an extra tone mapping setting the 820 does not for lower luminance projectors. Kris Deering did a write up on the target each setting reaches. With an LED, that setting is not needed. He'll get the same quality running audio and video with HDMI to his display and soundbar.

OK, but it sounds like you are saying the 820 isn't a good choice for somebody who uses a projector.

I would give them a call. They should be able to put you on the list and give you an idea where you stand as far as availability.

I am very interested in your opinion of the 9000 with the JVC RS600,I have the 600 also and have been wondering weather to get the 9000 or the 820. If it makes a big enough difference from the 900 than I'll wait till next year to upgrade my projector.

I've heard plenty say the 820 will do, but the 9000 just called to me with an extra HDR mode or two and better build. If it didn't feel like a trade out with the 203 I probably would've gone 820 myself. Just tryin to get the best image I can now as I'm nowhere near ready to upgrade the actual projector yet.

I'm feeling the same way,I want to wait another year or so before upgrading my RS600,it still has a great picture,I just want to totally get the most out of it, @chadb is coming soon to do a new calibration so I wanted to have either Panasonic player ready to go.

Hi rengozo. I'm also on the list to get my 9000 ~March 25th! Very excited. I have a JVC RS520. I don't think mine is as good quality as your projector, but I hope that the 9000 will give me a couple more years before I feel compelled to upgrade the projector. The 520 does have a very clear picture with beautiful color so I'm very hopeful what the UB9000 will do with my 4K discs.

Also, I have heard that it does some magic with regular blu-rays and even DVD's (of which I have a few that may never make it to UHD or even 1080p).

I sold off my Oppo 203 to finance this purchase. I was so disappointed with its UHD performance. Many of my 4K collection are nearly unwatchable. I kept my Oppo 103 to play everything else, and for its streaming and DLNA capabilities.

I think Robert mentioned the March 25th date as the next shipping date. It’s worth the wait.
Edit: I think the March allocation has been sold out and new orders will be in the April allocation. VE has exclusivity until July. If you’re interested I’d give him a call Monday and get on the April delivery list.

The 9000 is in a store. Value Electronics has an exclusive sales agreement with Panasonic on this unit that runs until July I believe. Their next allocation is due in April. Call them and get placed on the list. They are a first class store with great service and highly recommended.

I also looked in the MA database and it’s not there. I sent MA a inquiry about an Aface for this machine, awaiting their reply.

Do you know if Value Electronics is an authorized dealer? I am interested for warranty coverage purposes. Thanks.
