If you confirm your email address, you aren't committing to making a purchase. But if you do not confirm your email address, they'll most likely remove you from the list and you'll lose your spot in line. I don't recall if they gave a deadline for responding, but there's really no reason to hold off.

No deadline indicated in the email.

The fact that there hasn't been a FW update for the 203/25 since the Oppo announcement is no indication to future service from Oppo IMO. The last FW update for the 203/205 was 3/2/18 and the one before that was on 11/27/17. So basing the purchase of the 205 on a FW update in the next month or so might not be the best idea if you really want to buy one.

The confirmation email is most likely a way to guage the number of people who are still interested in the 205. They’re probably using it a a guide to give them an idea of how many they should build. What many people felt right after the initial announcement and panic is probably not how they feel now after they’ve had some time to think and possibly change their minds.
I’m sure OPPO doesn’t want to get stuck with too much excess 205 inventory while they’re closing shop.

They’re doing us a favor by doing another run of 205’s after they said they wouldn’t. If you want one, put your name on the list and reply to the email confirmation. They’re not playing games with us, so we shouldn’t play games with them.

Refurbished UPD-203 units are for sale on the Oppo site right now. If I hadn't purchased one already, I would get one while it is on sale. Same 2 year warranty as a new one.

That was quick as the refurbished 203s are out of stock.

Very true. Not sure I'd grab a 205 if I didn't want the great analog audio but a refurb 203 for a hundred less than a retail unit is a no brainer. Glad I cashed in on it while it was available.

Sadly the fact that the majority of HT users don't care is the reason behind the demise of Oppo players.

Something is up with the web site. The Refurb offering probably broke it for new 203's. They had around 475 new 203's left last Friday.

While it’s probably just a mistake, those on the fence should take heed. One day that message will be reality. That’s why I just went ahead and purchased one. Didn’t want to have any regrets.

Think he’s talking Oppo model numbers not SACD count.

Rip to ISO. From there extract DSF.

LOL, no I got that, but I clicked the link to what I thought was his list of SACDs but it's apparently THE list of SACDs with links to more high res audio. I really wish I'd not clicked that. Way way too much good stuff. Locking credit card in safe...
