You usually have to wait 20 minutes or more for detection, so I have not gone through all of my Sony and Lionsgate titles. The ones that didn't work before but work now are Mockingjay 1 & 2, and Deepwater Horizon. Out of 600+ rips I have maybe 20 Cinavia titles. Not sure what firmware update POSSIBLY excluded Cinavia but my FW is UDP20X-56-0224, which appears to be the latest.
The 203 does not detect Cinavia on mkv rips, but it does detect it on 4K UHD folder rips.

Got an Oppo 203 coming. YAY!! After reading the last part of this thread, I signed up for the list for if and when available and got the link to order late today. Went to the link and page said no more left so couldn’t add to cart. I emailed to ask and was told they just sold out a few minutes prior and was told I could call as there may be one or two still left in the office. And sure enough, lucked out and snagged one!

Very, very happy about this, as my heart sank when the link wouldn’t let me order one.

Oppo Customer Service is awesome and have very prompt emails. It’s unfortunate that the Oppos will be no longer, I love my 103 with darbee but needed a 4K player

Not sure if there is another wave coming or not, but relieved I got mine and didn’t want to pay the outrageous prices for one on ebay etc if I didn’t have too.

Yeah didn't think the one I got was the last one on the east coast. Maybe the last one in the DC area.

Ok, I was playing a retail blu ray of Deepwater Horizon on my wife's 203 last night and got the Cinavia message and muted audio about 35 minutes in. I'm hooked up from player to samsung K8500 soundbar to LG OLED tv. Is the player or the TV detecting something it thinks is an unauthorized networking device? No other storage device being employed although I suppose I could try the other hdmi output on the 203 for example. I don't believe I'm using the ARC hdmi input on the LG tv since its not needed to sync the soundbar. Any ideas?

Just got back from Oppo Digital HQ in Menlo Park where I picked up a backup 203 remote (for either my 103 or 203, just in case). I spoke with Chris at the front desk and he said he had no issues if I posted the following:

Oppo Digital HQ in Menlo Park will be gone sometime within a couple of months. HOWEVER, the Oppo Digital employees that currently work at Oppo Digital HQ will remain in the same building as a new/separate company for some number of YEARS to continue supporting Oppo Digital products. No new products of course.

Chris assured me that the DV update to support Sony TV's is coming but I did not push him for a date. I don't own a Sony and will most likely buy the LG C8 later this year, so I have no skin in the game wrt Sony.

Chris said he reads avsforum.com.

I wished him and the other Oppo Digital employees all the best!

Sounds about right. If they keep a good core of employees from the existing Oppo Digital, there should be enough business from repair / firmware work to keep them in good stead. A new company is a very good idea.

The Venn diagram section with players comparable with Oppo is empty. Stock up on Oppos now!

Panasonic is the only option unless you want the LG and Samsung garbage. I hope Sony steps it up with better units now with Oppo demise.

There really are no substitutes for Oppo. If you just want to play movies (BluRay or 4K), then panasonic. But if you also want to play SACDs, then there's only a 2-player solution, which will cost you more money than the Oppo 205 for an SACD player anywhere comparable to Oppo.

They have a team.. for now.. half empty you may say, but I don't think they will keep this team there for long. Once they figure how to use the R&D for phones or other items they are still selling, this team will be gone..
that's what I think anyway.

Actually the Sony's do SACDs as well and the x700 just got updated to fully support DV on all TVs. The x700 does not however support DVD-A (which the x800 does but it doesn't do DV...no win).

Just Got the Disheartening News Regardng OPPO...What Should We Do Next?

I simply couldn't believe when I read about OPPO's decision to cease production of physical media players (oddly enough, I had a sixth sense-like suspicion something like this was coming after I felt like I waited too long to buy the 203 UHD player), but being there's nothing any of us can do about it (unless we're lucky enough to be investors) I wanted to know if anyone could suggest the next course of action with regard to my particular situation...

I have been running a BDP-83 since the player's market introduction, and after using it on an almost nightly basis for more than a decade -- for DVD and BD playback -- it began to exhibit the drawer/loader issue; just last night, we attempted to watch Red Sparrow which we rented on DVD, and the 83 refused to read the disc, even locking up a few times to force me to turn the power off and then back on again. I think, in a nutshell, that the DVD loading may be toast on this player at this point, and I have contacted OPPO in the past about sending the player in for repair out of warranty.

So this is what I want to know:

- Should I have the 83 repaired while OPPO is still doing business, or is it not worth it at this point?
- Does anyone have any suggestions regarding a plan B for a UHD player? I am REALLY turned off by the looks and overall feel of the mainstream brands' players (like those from Samsung, Sony, LG et al) and wanted to get another OPPO (the 203 specifically) for UHD playback...but if faced with no other choice, what would be a good alternative to the OPPO? A Panasonic?

If it is still playing current Blu-rays then it is as good as any other BR player. And the ABT solution made it one of the two best DVD players ever, the other being OPPO's 983H. Has HDCD, SACD and DVD-A. (Older things like component output probably not important any more).

Downside: limited media file support. DLNA but not SMB. No UHD, obviously.

You can get it fixed for less than $100, but that could be a contribution to your next player instead.

Hard to say.
