Guess I am a bit unclear on the setup.
No, use the single output.

I'm not familiar with the MRX 1120 but with my Arcam 850 I was told that a direct connection might help with HDMI handshake issues, but I haven't experimented with it yet.

I live in Canada and had no issues with Hobbs and Shaw 4K in my 9000.

Appreciate the response... brand new unit here... had to wait to get one... any thoughts on if I should return and get another?

Edit: Working my way through my disks to see if anything else struggles to load and American Assassin also gave the "No Read" message and failed to load, I may need to pack this thing up and take it back.

Did you reset the unit after updating the firmware? It’s not required but disc players are the one device I do reset to factory defaults after updating firmware or whenever I see some funky behavior.

You might want to try cleaning the discs too just to try to it before deciding to return the unit.

Reviewers have noted playback issues with this player. See page 2 of this review. Seems sensitive to fingerprints, too.

I put two brand new discs in it and both gave the same result. One of those discs I put in a cheap LG 4K player and it played no problem. Will try cleaning the again... and I’ve reset back to factory defaults but I didn’t need to upgrade firmware as it came with 1.6 already. Got busy watching Last Jedi though, looks and sounds great when it works

CD Playback

Does anyone know if this player can read CD information? Every CD that I have played does not display song/track or artist info. Thanks

I do own this player for about 6 weeks now tested and watched many discs with not a single problem. I always wipe/clean rental discs before putting them in the player.

That information is not stored on CDs (SACDs do have it). To get that info the player would need to query some online service (Grace Notes is one I am aware of).

1) JVC DLA-NX7 & Sony 65Z9D, Yamaha CX-A5200, Outlaw Audio 7900 & 7700, UDP-203, DP-UB9000, UBP-X800M2, Roku Ultra

so are people aware there is a glitch in the ub9000 and possibly all the pana uhd players

doesnt pick up and pass on the HDR flag on planet earth h2 ? this is with the jvc n7 projector believe same issue wth sony projectors ?

trying same disc on the oppo 205 and no issue HDR flag passed on without an issue. see post below from @Franin
https://www.avsforum.com/forum/24-di...l#post58896490

verified this issue is most definitely there with the ub9000 on my machine

I’m kinda shocked at how many issues people seem to have with this player. I’m starting to count myself lucky. Would that be a correct interpretation of the situation or are the issues just out weighing in the forums?

I have had the Panasonic UB820 and now for some time the UB9000.
Zero issues with either player.
I chose not to use either for streaming.
I used both for playing Hard-Disc as my feeling is that's it's primary purpose.

I use the New/Latest 2019 ROKU for all streaming .............

My story is the same as yours. I had a UB820 for some time until I got theUB9000 and have had no trouble with either. Also, I do all of my streaming with the latest 2019 Roku and have only play discs on the Panasonics.

It just seems like it, because the hundreds/thousands of people with no issues wouldn't have the need to post about it. Whereas, if 10 people ran into 10 various quirks or issues, they would post about it and it would seem like there are major widespread issues even if they make up less than 1% of the owners.

Dear all,

Is UB9000 possible to listen music/cd via XLR/RCA output without the display ON and setting the HDMI audio output ON/OFF every time?

Thank you.

So you mean the workaround is to have the disc playing / paused, and turn off the optimizer, then turn it off again, and then you get HRD flag to projector?

Yes, I just turn the HDR optimizer OFF and ON again when the moving was playing,
then the color of Planet Earth 2 become normally and I checked with playinfo confirmed that UB9000 was sending HDR to my projector (before the color was washed out and the playinfo said the signal was 4K SDR.

Brilliant news! I've posted over on bluray.com too as some had identified it there I think - oddly one was not on a projector but a 6 series LG oled, playing that Italian Midsommar UHD.

My optimizer was off. I never turned it back on. Well at least the issue is found. With my Sony X700 no issues at all.

my optimiser is off as well as am using the dynamic tone mapping in the projector instead.

not that have tried turning back on and off again, likely just use oppo instead for that disc...

My UB 9000 has been pretty good since the last firmware update. Not perfect, but I've seen few disc errors such blank screen, freezing or tearing. Really no reason I can hang my hat on and I have yet to have a disc that would not play. Watched Angel has Fallen over the weekend. The image started to break apart and freeze towards the end when they were running up to the roof. I skipped back a Chapter and started again with no problem. Watched a movie on my Oppo 203 yesterday and had a similar problem. All these machines have their quirks. Usually not a bad disc if new. Just need to make sure you clean all new disc's and keep them spotless. These 4K machines are not as forgiving as our old DVD players or even cheaper 4K machines. Tolerance levels are tight and anything out of the norm will give you a problem.

Well, I'm fixin to join the Panny club. My 9000 "should" arrive by the 10th. I've been content with my Oppo 103 for so long as it got along with my QLED 6F. Then one day I though, hmmm, I think I'll upgrade to a 205......wow, did my bubble ever burst?!

I had an Elite 500 in my rig for a week, sent it back and stayed with my 103, then figured the 9000 would fit with bill with the balanced connections on the back, I'm looking forward to putting this thing through the paces!
