I'm assuming that the 95FD isn't profile 1.1. If 1.0, is it firmware upgradable to 1.1?

Also, I'm debating between ordering the 95FD now or waiting for the announcement about Panasonic's new "30" model coming at the end of October. What would you guys do?

My understanding is the 95 is not upgradable to 1.1, the new Pannny model is news to me. I'm going for the 95, I don't care much about pip or special features on disks, I just want the movies with lossess sound.

Sorry with another question on that line . . . so from back in your previous posts you talked about other than 1080p24, am I to assume you have choices with this player as you do with the toshiba players. so when concert videos stat to roll out and they are in 1080p60 we will be able toforce this out of the unit and let the display do what it needs to do if we like?

thanks alot,
jimi

I know the initial comments are favorable but what's the final verdict regarding SD upconversion ? As good as the XA2?

Thanks

Are people really finding these players in retail stores? I have checked the Costa Mesa Pioneer store and several other stores with them all saying the don't have any in yet. Some stores are telling me early November. Is this on track with what other people have found?

Thanks Joe. Sound s like a great player so far. Seems like this unit and the PS3 are the best in the blu camp and the Tosh x2 is the best in the HD camp at this time.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the samsung 5000 finally comes out.

Forgot about the A35.

I'm actually still hanging onto SD. . . for now. . . I just bought a Marantz 7001 and love it, but I am getting the HD itch. I really can't make a choice right now. I really don't like the idea of 2 formats, but I know it's here to stay for now so I will eventually. . . make a choice.

I read the thread on the 1.0 vs. 1.1 vs. Live and I really don't see that 1.1 would be that much of a big deal to most people. Am I missing something?

It's not that we don't have them in yet, we have actually been taking preorders on them for the last month. We shipped out all of our preorders last week, a few we had left to sell in store went out the same day. We are now accepting preorders for the next shipment which will be in about 10 days. You can always count on your preorders being handled with extreme efficiency, I am sure most any member here would back that up who has ordered from us. Give my team a call tomorrow if you want one, 714-540-8000.

Went back to the Magnolia that had one and they sold it. Said that they will not be in until 11/18. Gives me some time to let my pocketbook get ready.

Question:
I just read about this upcoming 'Terminator 3' title on High Def Digest:
Quote:
"With the BDA-mandated October 31 deadline for Profile 1.1 hardware support fast approaching, apparently all of the earlier roadblocks have been removed, and Warner now feels confident enough to finally issue 'Terminator 3' on Blu-ray, complete with the studio's very first BD-Java powered "In-Movie Experience" track (a feature that apparently requires Profile 1.1 compliance in order to be played)."

I'm not a big fan of PIP or IME - so I don't necessarily need a profile 1.1 player. But I'm curious. Re: IME/PIP - what happens when trying to access this feature w/a profile 1.0 machine? You would just click on it - and nothing? Or?

I have had my 95 on pre-order with VE... I dying to get this player, does anybody have an idea of a real release date? I just called the Pioneer store and they are saying November, that does not seem right.

Hmm... could someone please check the player's manual on the page where it lists all supported audio codecs and what the player can do with them?

It just so happens that the manual for the European version quite plainly lists that the player is unable to send DTS-HD MA over HDMI as HBR bitstream, but sends dts core instead.

The chart is on page 42 of the European manual and says

DTS-HD Master Audio(18) - HDMI output: DTS
(18): DTS sound is output.

Yet when I tested the player with a HDMI 1.3 receiver, the DTS-HD MSTR logo lit up in the receiver's display. WTH?

I won't pay a cent for UHD Blu-rays made from 2K masters by upscaling.

The product brochure states,"... the BDF-95FD outputs all advanced audio format bitstreams including DTS-HD Master Audio through the HDMI 1.3a output for decoding in newer AV receivers". This has been confirmed in post #1. However, it would be nice to know what the manual states. Anybody found a link yet? I want to review it before pulling the trigger.
