Connecting my projector to a sliding mount

Hi I saw people posted telling someone to email about putting a projector on the ceiling where you could slide it, but I couldn’t DM anyone.

Can someone help point me in the right direction? I want to mount my projector on a track of some sort only one axis so that I can hide it away when it’s not in use. I was looking at using a track from track lightning or something like that but I don’t know if that will hold the projector or if a mount will connect to it.
Any ideas? I’m using an Optoma HD143X.
Would appreciate any help.
Thanks

I track mounted my projector but for a different reason. Mine is to extend the zoom range so I can use my projector for variable image sizes and brightness issues.

It shouldn’t be too hard to find a track to do what you want but even when you hide the projector the track will still be in view.

Here is a thread about mine.

I saw your thread and your track being so visible is why I’m looking for a different option. I wanted something much more subtle like the picture attached. Is there a projector mount that could attach into this? Then I’d just slide it back and forth?

I would be very concerned hanging a projector and a mount from a track that "light weight."

There are any number of tracks and they all have different weight capacities.

Unistrut is one such company and 80/20 Inc. is another. Google will show you their building block components you can buy.

Google ceiling tracks and you will find many more. Some are made to hold the weight of a person.

I wanted my track system to make a statement in the room or at least I wasn’t trying to hide it. It is a dedicated projection room that is also a place to do other activities so it doesn’t bother me showing off the equipment. I do understand others might want something trying to blend into the room and not look like a projector rig. Mine is more pronounced because it is inclined to cause an image height change at the same time it is causing a size change. I’m sure I could design something to do that and not show in the room but it would be more complex and cost as much as a projector that had those functions built in.

Pending the projector depth, where it is wired, etc., they make several different lengths. These are rated to 50 lbs.
