what to put in a dedicated HT 15.5" x 13.5"? ~$15K

Here is an idea and I'm interested in alternatives:

- 85" Sony 4K TV - or 4K projector (note room size)?

- big speakers with Atmos speakers in ceiling such as Golden Ear Triton 1, xxl center and Triton 2 sides or Revel Performa f208 Atmos speakers & 2 subs? Or would this room suggest a different approach?

- NAD T 777 V3 AV Receiver or put more money into pre pro and separate amps?

- 4K disc player

The has no windows. There is a door on the side.

Here's my take

JVC NX5
127" 2.35:1 Screen

Panasonic 820 UHD

DIYSG HT-10 L/C/R

DIYSG HT-6 Surrounds

DIYSG Volt 6 Atmos

Dual VBSS Subs

I'd stick with the NAD reciever or a Denon/Marantz/Onkyo/etc. Seperates are overkill in that space.
Tedd and noob00224 like this.

7.4.4 Theater Room: JVC-RS46U, Silver Ticket AT 2.35:1 142”, Onkyo RZ830, Anthem PVA-7, Panasonic DBT-110, JBL Studio 270’s, 4 - 15" DIY Sealed Subs

3.1 Living Room: Samsung 64” F8500 Plasma, Anthem MRX 300, Dynaudio Audience 52’s, Dynaudio Audience 122C, NHT SubOne

NAD is coming out with a new model T-778 to replace the T-777. I'm guessing you may be able to get the T-777 discounted or get the T-778 if it has features that you want or need.

Man cave-Marantz 8012, Oppo 203, 4K ATV, Sony XBR-75X940E, Bluesound Vault 2, Harmony One, 2 Paradigm Monitor 9's, CC-390, 2ADP 390's/190's, 2 PDR 100's,
4 SVS Prime elevations. B&W P5. Living room- Yamaha 2010, Bluesound Node 2, Paradigm SE-1's, Zone 2-Paradigm-Stylus 370-SM
Bedroom- Samsung UN60ES7100F, Oppo 103D, Pulse Mini, JBL Bar Studio, ATV3 and Harmony 650

How tall is the room and how many people will be using it? And what sort of media will you be running?

The ceiling is normal height...need to measure

People is a great question: 2 for sure, 3 probably next most popular, 5 max when friends come over. I was thinking 3 seats plus bean bag chairs....but wondering about two rows but don't want to compromise the sweet spot.

We have a 65" RPTV in living room downstairs so this would be for movies. Most movies would be current/modern action / sci-fi / adventure and I would assume your typical new release blockbuster rentals. I was going to watch Star Trek reboot movies. I can watch sports, TV and b&w movies in the living/family room.

Three seats in 13.5' of width is all about seating off surround speakers and wide aisles. And the potential for a time aligned money seat. There's the potential to have aisle spaces for two
chairs when five need to be accommodated. Surround speakers and ATMOS could be in backer boxes.

My preference would be projection, and a 16x9 screen, with a single upper mask, with the bottom of the screen about 14" off the floor. I'd be aiming for a 10' wide screen and hdtv shows in
the theater as well. (So all that that would weigh in on a personal decision regarding scope screen or 16x9 screen debate. Consider it food for thought.)

NAD has had issues, might be worth the effort to do some extensive research.

You could get away with lesser speakers as the throw distances would be well within reference levels. I'd be looking to have a really low noise floor and some
money into proper acoustical treatments.

An 85" 4K would be fine, and simple to do, but you would be giving up a lot of screen real estate.
