Home Theater: 5.1.4 or 7.1.2

Hello everyone!!

I'm trying to decide if I go 5.1.4 or 7.1.2? I do not have the atmos and surround back yet, all the other speakers I already have installed.

I appreciate any suggestions based on the size and equipment that I have.

Tks!

Stay with the 5 speakers you currently have in the base layer. With your couch against the back wall, there is no space behind you for the Rear speakers (i.e., there won't be any meaningful separation between the Sides and Rears). So just add 2 speakers to the height layer. You can do 4 speakers in the height layer, but one of those pairs will end up above you and might be distracting.

Thank you! What do you think to do 2 CDT-3650 uphead, and get another 2 bookshelf to put in front height above the tv (between ceiling and wall) pointing to the couch?

It would be any better or go just with 5.1.2 with the uphead atmos speakers?

Thank you,

If one pair of height speakers is in front of you then the other pair of height speakers should be behind you, to get front-vs-back separation. But that's not possible with the seating against the back wall.

That's what I would do, with the height speakers mounted where you have them in your drawing.
