Can’t Remember What My Plan Was?

Hi,

After a number of years of distractions I am back on track to finish my basement theater.

Problem is I can't remember my original plan

A couple of metrics.

First my max ceiling height is 92"
Second the projector has been wired on the ceiling at the 13' mark.
Third, I have two pairs of ceiling speakers. The first at the 6' and the second at 16' mark.

I am thinking I will have one row of seating at the 11' mark right between the ceiling speakers.

Is my roughin setup making sense?

My numbers are telling me the max size of the drop down screen should be 92".

Sound right?

I am thinking of the following four projectors based upon local availability:

BenQ TK800M
BenQ HT3550
Epson Home Cinema 4010
Optoma UHD60

Should I have wired the projector closer to the projector or is it in the right spot?

Any other feedback / critisim is appreciated.

Each projector is going to give you a different screen size at a given distance. Ran the numbers on Projector Central calculator , results below. All seem to be within their zoom range so you have some flexibility although there's quite of range in light output. In my last theater I had the same ceiling height and used 110" fixed frame comfortably. Your seating distance is also good given potential screen sizes. Were you planning on using the in ceiling speakers as "surrounds" or as atmos speakers.

BenQ TK800M 114" 45FL
BenQ HT3550 122" 16FL
Epson 4010 98" 79FL
Optoma UHD60 105" 33FL

Can’t Remember What My Plan Was?

Hi

I have 4 Sounance VP 62R in the ceiling. I was going the Athmos route. I have 2 speakers in the rear wall.

Reference the light outputs I guess the large number is better?

Where you state the BenQ 800M is 114” is that optimal distance from the projector?

Thanks for the info.

I quickly put each projector in your list at a throw distance of 13'. The calculator appears to be giving the screen sizes at approximately mid zoom points , so there is some flexibility. The higher light output is more suitable for a room with more ambient light. Are you planning on 5.x.4 or 7.x.4 . Those speakers should serve you well in an atmos set up. How did you determine their placement in relation to your seating? Where are the speakers in the rear wall placed , at what length/height? I hope you don't mind all the questions.....

Can’t Remember What My Plan Was?

Hi

I was planning on a 5x4 setup.

I have a pair of sounance VP62 squares in the back wall about 18’ from the front at seated ear height.

There are two small windows in the area where the theatre will be. With blinds it should be pretty dark.

Well whatever your plan was you're well on your way to a nice setup! Ideally your surrounds would be placed closer to your main seating area but your AVR will compensate for levels and distance during calibration. Hope you are able to post a few pics as well.
