Programming a Pioneer VSX-30 Receiver

I am installing a Pioneer VSX-30 Receiver, it is an older model but it fits well with my current system.

My components are just DirectTV and a Blu-Ray player, and we have a lot of built in speakers and sub-woofers all over the room.

My question is: Can I just plug in and use everything, or will it need to be programmed specifically?

Will the DirectTV work immediately or will it need some kind of programming to sync it or unscramble the signal?

Will it automatically detect the speakers, or will I need to set up each zone?

Is it simple to program the setup, is it something you can explain to me easily in this forum?

Any advice would be helpful, especially someone familiar with this type of receiver.

Thanks!
