Screen LED strips: Back or Side mounting?

Quick question -

I'm adding an LED strip to my screen, and am not sure if its better to mount the strips to the back of the frame, facing the wall, or the sides, facing out. Are there pros and cons? Does facing them back create more issues by making the screen itself any brighter? Even if just technically, but not necessarily in the real world?

I generally dont keep them on during the movies anyway. More for entertainment value during sports or TV or getting ready to watch a movie.

But before I stick them on to the wrong surface, I figured I'd ask.

Video: Epson 6050 / Panny DP-UB420 / OPPO-103
Audio: Marantz 7010 / MartinLogan Motion 40 (LR), 50XT (center), M2 (surrounds)
Streaming: nVidia Shield / Roku Ultra / Chromecast Ultra
NAS: Synology 1515+ Server: Ubuntu 18.04, i7-8700 CPU
HTPC: Win10 Pro 64-bit, i5 750 Radeon HD 5850

By mounting the LEDs on the back of the frame, and inside at least 2", the reflection of the LED lighting off the wall is diffused and distributed more equally. Positioned facing ouward they become a stip of mini-spotlights that illuminate the Walls and Ceiling and Floor. Rear mounting to close to the outside edge of the Screen has the same deleterious effect.

Back of frame for sure. Off during movies like you said. LED strips don't look as good when you can see the strip
