Just finished watching DIE ANOTHER DAY.
After a very grainy and desaturated pre-title sequence the film morphs into a very nice and colorful transfer (outside the really bad CGI). I didn't think it was the worst looking DVD but this BD far exceeds the original. I really can't see how some can say it looks about the same as the DVD?
I rented this one for the audio. In truth DAD was always one of my favorite DD or more specifically 5.1 DTS-ES encodes, which is surpising that they didn't make this a 6.1 mix? Now i'm curious does DTS-MA have an ES extention cause I know that TRUEHD does. Anyways, I was anxious to listen to the audio track and though it's 5.1, it doesn't disappoint. I found the dynamics to be very impressive and also took note of sounds i'd never noticed before in the lossy encodes eg: the scene with his father on the plan, I never noticed there was singing in the background. There's such a significant increase in detail it's worth the upgrade for the audio alone.
Having said that, the film still sucks and though i've Netflixed it, i've no plans on purchasing. It did remind me and sadden me just how much potential this film had. It just seemed as soon as they hit Iceland that the film dissolved.
