Since there's no dedicated discussion thread for it, I decided to start this one.

I just watched the brazilian BD of 'Night At The Museum 2' and it's another fantastic job from FOX.

It has natural and very fine film grain presented throughout the movie and no other signs of digital tinkering like EE or DNR. Compression is never a problem as FOX has awarded this their high bitrate treatment. Video bitrate alone usually ranges from 38 to 40mbps. IMO it looks as good as X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The sound design is very good too, with lots of surround effects, though I think LFE could have a bit more punch. The music score is another fine effort from the great Alan Silvestri.

I haven't seen the first movie yet, but I have a feeling (based on trailers, mouth to mouth, box office, etc) it's better than this one. It's not a bad flick at all, but I guess I had higher expectations.

I liked the flashlight thing tough , it was really cool ... Amy Adams looked very nice in those tigths too

There's no thread yet because it hasn't been announced yet. I'm looking forward to this release as well. My guess is it will come out in the November/December time frame since the movie has only been released just over 3 months ago.

Amazon has been accepting pre-orders for this for a couple of weeks now, but with no release date...?

Will they re-do the encode with a good high bitrate MPEG-4 run through on the first one when the sequel is released, do you think? It just doesn't hold up well anymore. Average MPEG-2 video with a very digital and over-processed look to it.

Listen up, studios! Dolby Atmos Lite™ print-outs must stop!!

I believe it might happen at least here in Brazil, since FOX hasn't released the first one yet. They've been pretty good at providing BD-50 AVC high-bitrate treatment to some of the old US catalog as they get released here.

That's why I didn't grab the first one from the US yet. I'm waiting on our chances here.

If it is as fun as the first movie, then I will probably buy it (especially since the family enjoyed the first).

Some shots of the packing. Nothing fancy, but the artwork these discs pressed in Austria are much better than US ones (of course the difference can't be seen by the shots). Though nothing rivals the printing on japanese disc labels.

Looks like they switched to scope for the second one, as I recall the first was 1.85:1. Did they use a different director for the sequel? Also, is Owen Wilson in the sequel? He was pretty funny in the first.

Unfortunatelly it only features lossy tracks for OST and dubs. The fully packed version (with extras and lossless track) will come along with the worldwide release.

It's about the same thing with X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

For years now, FOX had this policy of releasing barebones DVDs quickly after the theatrical run, while the fully packed retail version debuted some two or three months later. Now they've extended it to BDs as well.

Ice Age 3 should be coming out shortly.

Any buyers on release day? I'm probably just going to rent it as I spent so much lately and I rather not blind buy it though I enjoyed the first.

It's $18.99 at Amazon.

This is a blind buy for me. My kids loved the first one and watched it alot. If we only watch this half as much as the first it will be worth it.

Weird that we haven't heard barely anything about this Blu-ray that comes out TOMORROW? Is it being overshadowed by Terminator: S?

In terms of LFE, size does matter!

My kids (and, by association, us) have watched the first film countless times. I suspect the 2nd film will receive the same treatment. These films are just plain fun, and not intended to be "high-brow" titles. Release day buy for us.
