Screenshots from the Canadian disc which is identical to the UK and will be the same as the Best Buy-exclusive US release, I'd bet my shoes.

This movie seems to have tons of out-of-focus shots but apart from that it looks good. Decent transfer for a decent flick.

22.05Mbps VC-1 and I didn't see compression issues.

Judging by the info in Danny Walch's review at dvd-palace.de, the German disc from Warner looks to be 100% identical to the Canadian and UK as well.

I thought it was a little funny that Samuel L. Jackson is paired up on the feature-length commentary with Renny Harlin given his character's you-know-what. I haven't had a chance to watch my UK BD yet - maybe this weekend...

This is one of my guilty pleasures (primarily because of my paranoia about sharks).

Will probably buy when it hits the discount bin...

I'm not one to put much stock in ten inch screengrabs, but those have characteristics that scream "outdated master", which unless the film was recently remastered just for its apparent limited Best Buy exclusive promotion, I'm sure the master is outdated by over 10 years. Always enjoyed the movie, but I think I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bin now. Thanks.

Chad, this disc is one of the best looking catalogue titles that Warner have ever released. I was quite impressed, it reminded me of a good Sony catalogue release. There's nothing dated about the master at all, it's a gorgeously detailed transfer.

Same. Looking forward in getting this soon.
I wish the sharks were released in the deep blue sea and attack boats, divers, beach goers etc it would of definitely been much more entertaining.

Yeah but that would have been another Jaws ripoff. Then again it's hard to make any movie about ocean predators that's not gonna be a Jaws ripoff. At least the Alzhiemers story they tried with it was something different for a change.

The worst thing about having this on Bluray is some of the bad CGI looks really bad now.

Yeah but I'm more interested in seeing these super sharks out in in the open causing havoc and the scientist trying to hunt them down.

Just so long as you take the blame as the creep who requested it, I'm happy to oblige.

By the way, I first saw this on analog cable via TBS, and even then I thought the CGI looked awful.

This. The sound has a fair bit of heft, too. All in all, a damned fine catalogue title from Warners IMO.

Agreed. I was very surprised as well. It didn't look so pormising for the fisrt few moments when the title shows but beyond that it looks just great. Very rich colorful and film like, not harsh on the eyes at all with plenty of real detail.

You sound like a candidate for Piranha 3D - a movie with lots of nudity, havoc and gore - and one that can't decide what it's target audience is.

Wouldn't watch Piranha 3D. Not interested in 3D not interested in Piranhas.

Yeah, I don't blame you I'm not much of a 3D fan either. I saw this yesterday afternoon and to make matters worse it's what I call Fake-D - 2D transformed to 3D. But I know you will be renting the 2D Blu-ray in a few months - guaranteed.

Well done. Thanks. My favorite is the shot on the bottom left.

And, am I a creep for enjoying a beautiful wet woman in underwear? What about the producers who made the scene intended for the millions of moviegoers?

Any reason ordering from Amazon.ca instead of Amazon.co.uk?

Because our dollar is worth .94c in Canada vs .58 in UK. I never order anything from the UK.

Deep Blue Sea is £10.15 (AU$17.50) + shipping from Amazon UK and can arrive in 4 days.

I have found Amazon.ca to be incredibly slow with standard shipping (up to 10 weeks) and pricey for expedited or courier.

Amazon UK is good value for many titles and postage is only £2 + £1.59/title.

They were very fast with my standard shipping.

I recently saw it on HDNet Movies. It looked pretty good, but as noted by others above, the CGI stood out as very cartoonish. Has anyone compared the BD to the HDNet version?

Thanks,
