Opened up to 1.78:1 from 2.35:1. No DNR. The transfer itself looks decent though it seems to have that weird noise present in some other releases. But god damn, the compression job is pathetically unstable. From second-to-second you can see it abruptly switch from relatively transparent to horribly smoothed and (de)blocked.
Features the Miramax logo at the start so a proper stateside release may be a while. Tons of different foreign distributors though so maybe another one will get it right first.

You know, I think you're right. Talk about a truly wretched presentation. The framing is abandoned, the detail is sucked out by DNR and what's left is obscured by a truly stupendous amount of video noise and macroblocking. The only thing this presentation seems to have escaped is edge enhancement.
