Awesome! I used to love both movies. I watched The Secret of Nimh in recent years when I bought it on DVD, and didn't care for it anymore, but I still love Teen Wolf. Mindless fun!

there are a bunch of other exclusives coming from this same wave including "The Greatest Story Ever Told".
seems clear that MGM has been holding bds for when their financial situation got cleared up and now the floodgates are flying open.
they have like 25 titles or more suddenly coming out or in the next few months.

Never thought I'd see the day! Saw Teen Wolf on the big screen about a year and a half ago, and it was a great experience. Can't wait to have it in Blu!

Too much to ask for an extended cut which includes the deleted scenes?

Regarding NIMH, there's a little info on a high-def remaster done in 2007 over on this thread: https://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=824422

The very same master now surfacing?

These will probably be MGM retailer exclusives at Best Buy or Target I'm guessing, given how many they've released now over the last month.

I do have a morbid curiosity about it though, whether they've hidden it now or not.

For Don Bluth fans, here are some screenshots of the upcoming french Blu-ray of 'The Secret of Nimh' (AVC codec used)
Now, this is film which would benefit from a new master as the title cards got lots of ghosting/bleeding and the film is so grainy it seems to choke the encoder, inducing artifacts...
Appart from that, looks very film like... no DNR noticed here... ;-)

And a quick compare with the latest US DVD release for that last picture reveals some slight contrast boosting in the Blu-ray...

Well, it'd be nice if somebody could compare these shots with the US Blu-ray release's ones...

A fellow called Owozifa on the Blu-ray.com forum posted some US shots. There's also a good post here where someone passed along info from the film's producer.

Here's a frame from the Vudu HDX streaming preview for comparison.

the blu-ray.com review is up:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Se.../20657/#Review

This guy is schizophrenic. He liked Last Unicorn (with it's filmic Grain) but here says it's a problem that should have the DNR applied to it like the Disney films. Also, same guy that gave high marks for the Scream films.

My personal thoughts from viewing the screenshots? I like the grain, but it does look slightly noisy which I think a remaster would solve. That being said, I can't see that happening for Nimh and will happily pick this one up.

My copy of Teen Wolf arrived today. It's a bare-bones release. Only other things on the disc are a sneak peak of the new MTV Teen Wolf series and the theatrical trailer. Audio is mono DTS-HD MA which is disappointing. Video is AVC @ 38Mbps on a 50GB disc.

Video has pretty good detail and good color, but there's plenty of grain (not necessarily a bad thing) and lots of dirt spots and specks. Audio is very underwhelming. Is this the best audio track they have for this movie? If so then I realize there's not much they can do about it.

I've always loved this movie, but the disc is fairly subpar. I wish Fox would have put more effort into this. I'm glad I only paid $14 for it because it's not worth anything more.

Thanks for the review. It is definitely disappointing to hear about the audio. I can live with stereo, but mono?! I checked and it looks like the DVD was the same way.

The original audio mix is mono so why the complaints? I'll take mono over any pseudo surround track any day of the week.

NIMH: Casey Broadwater. The other films you mentioned: Jeffrey Kauffman.

Still haven't been able to get my grubby paws on the NIMH disc yet but I would find it hard to believe everything looked this blurry on the negative. I guess this transfer wouldn't look as bad if they left it at 1.37.

I am sure they have the elements of the audio recorded separately, and could construct a real, not pseudo stereo or surround experience from them (just like they do for tons of other movies). They just took the easy way out. If the original was truly in mono, then they should include the mono track, but also offer something better.

Maybe, but they do it all the time for other movies. I guess the volume of sales for Teen Wolf wouldn't justify the cost. If they had all of the elements readily available, it would probably take a month of one guy's time to do it (guessing less than $10000). If they sell 10000 copies, then it would add $1 to the cost, so charge $15.99 instead of $14.99. Having a better audio track might drive up sales. I for one am on the fence whether I want to bother simply because of the audio. I have bought other titles that I would not have otherwise and watched them many times already because of the perfect picture and audio such as Sound of Music. Some of my favorite movies never get watched because of subpar audio or video.

That TW crotch shot isn't at all the way I remember - wrong angle, person, and was in the middle of the crowd. I wonder if I'm remembering something from a different movie.

Still funny though.
