I just recently saw The Fall and really loved it, so I was reminded I've always wanted to get director Tarsem's The Cell on blu-ray too. However, I can't tell if the version for sale on amazon is the Canadian version (what was supposedly released earlier or not as good?). Actually, I can't really find out any information on it at all. Has anyone bought it who could fill me in?

There is no American release. That's the Canadian release, with the most obvious tell being "Alliance Candada" listed as the studio.

Yeah. That's the Canadian version and the one to pick up if you are looking for it.

Bumping this old thread to comment that I recently watched (for the first time) my Region 1 Blu of The Cell, after having it for a while.

I've only seen this a couple of times before (on the DVD), and have been impressed each time. If anything, the movie gets better with each subsequent re-watch. Amazing movie. Visually gorgeous, with an extremely unsettling/disturbing story - and excellent acting/casting.

The dream-like nightmarish landscapes/scenery & the horrific characters only added to the bizzarre/trippy nature of the film. I can honestly say that this film is in a class by itself, and that's an extreme compliment.

The PQ of this Blu wasn't that much better than the DVD (and maybe no better), but no surprises there - given the reviews of the R1 Blu I've read over the years. I'm still glad I got the Blu, given that I've never owned the DVD.

Easy to forget that there were enjoyable movies about dream-sharing (Dreamscape, The Cell) that came out prior to Inception.
Art Sonneborn likes this.
