The September 2015 Atmos disk is the latest, well at least it was as of CES if memory serves correctly.

The previous response was about how to get Atmos since you asked about both the Atmos and DTS "2016" discs. I was just commenting on the Atmos one.

But you have a link to the DTS one from ebay, just buy it. What are you looking for? Someone to illegally make a copy for you?

If there is an legality issue for you then this entire thread should be shut down, as well as the AVS theater thread which includes downloads to at least 6 copyrighted blu ray theater test materials.

Not sure why you escalated a simple question to that level, there is a lot of people searching around for that material, and its no different from the material you all are already sharing.

I didn't escalate anything. You asked for a full copyrighted copy of a disc, designed not to be available to the public, in a public forum. I am just trying to stop the conversation from screwing things up for everyone else as the demo discs here are arguably different, yet most of "us" know that they still live in a gray area themselves.

Next time, be more discrete and it wouldn't kick so many red flags. "Hey, does anyone have this disc?" and they ask them in a PM about if they are willing and able to do something. But shoot. For $36, that isn't too bad for a DTS demo disc. When I was buying discs. I many times paid over $50 each.

There's a filename error with the "Reference 2 Bass" torrent, from the summary file in Post #1. The final piece "Reference 2 Bass FINAL.part31.rar.31.!ut" has that extraneous ".!ut" extension. I had to manually delete that for 7zip to extract the files.

Indeed there is. It is well documented in the thread, I know is so old and long, but its there. No need to delete the extension, just rename it (maybe that's what you meant).

If you download some of these discs please seed for some time so others can also benefit.

That's what I meant: rename by deleting the extraneous extension. I thought it might be a recent error that could be fixed upstream.

I'm seeding as I'm downloading the set listed here This is a great resource and happy to have found it. (Likewise, your other thread that explains how to use ImgBurn to create an ISO. I was lost for a bit until I found that to make a playable file.)

The BDMV.iso, from BDMV.torrent - Bass Demo Blu-Ray, isn't playable. A quick check shows it doesn't have the CERTIFICATE directory like other ISOs made form these demo "discs". Is there a way to create the certificate folder and files and place them into the ISO file/folders to make this playable?

Thanks.

Not complacently sure which "Bass Demo Blu-Ray" you are referring to, however, even though that the standards for bluray call for a CERTIFICATE folder the disc will play without one since none of these discs have any type of copy protection or country codes.

PowerDVD 2016 Ultra won't play the ISO. It plays all the other ISOs found from this thread. Any suggestions? (If it doesn't play, and I really want to give it a go, I can pull out the M2TS files and play them directly. But for now I like the simplicity of playing ISOs from PowerDVD.)

The "Bass Demo Blu-Ray described and linked at the bottom of the first post, as such:

================================================== ======================

Mod's edit: I have zipped up all of the current torrents that I could find into a single file. Once you unzip the file you should find:

BDMV.torrent - Bass Demo Blu-Ray
Home Theater Demonstration Bluray v2.0.torrent - This is version 2.0 only...I could not complete version 1.0.
RAR_Reference_BD50.torrent - Reference Blu-ray Disc #1
RAR_Reference_2_BD50.torrent - Reference Blu-ray Disc #2

Those are the BD 50 torrents. You will also find the individual segments of Reference Blu-ray Disc #1 and #2 - each segment fits onto a single DVD dual layer disc for those who do not have a Blu-ray burner.

I just did this so that people reading this thread would not have to search all over for the download links...

You can create an empty folder called "CERTIFICATE" and that will usually do the trick. Put it in the same disc folder as the BDMV folder and create your ISO file.

Thanks. Unfortunately, that didn't work for me*. Looking through the STREAM folder at the M2TS files, I found a menu clip that shows it's the "Ultimate Bass Demo Vol 1" that I'm struggling with. I'm going to search AVS and see if there's another link to that demo that might work for me.

* I tried two approaches: I created a new empty CERTIFICATE folder and then made the ISO with it and the BDMV folder. Then I tried copying the index and movie data files in the BDMV folder into the CERTIFICATE folder and make an ISO. Neither approach gave an ISO that PowerDVD Ultra would play.

Why are you making an ISO?
Can't you just play it as a folder called "Ultimate ..." with the BDMV (and CERTIFICATE, or not) folder in it?

To PowerDVD, a BDMV folder is just a folder of files: you have to navigate down to the STREAM folder, and find a bunch of 000#.M2TS files with no labeling or structure, and sometimes no thumbnail. But PowerDVD can play an ISO, with the menus, labeling and other niceties that were so painstakingly created. The ISO is an easier and nicer experience.

I could go through the effort of manually re-naming all the M2TS and MKV files and setting them up for PowerDVD or Plex...but I don't see the benefit of redoing all the work done to make a good Blu-ray ISO.

If there's a way to make PowerDVD "play" a BDMV folder as a Blu-ray, that would be good to learn.

In any case, I found a revised Ultimate Bass Demo Vol 1 that works. And Vol 2. And Vol 3 & 4 that are just a bunch of M2TS and MKVs, but are nicely labeled.

This thread is an incredible resource, and my thanks to @superleo for creating it and @LastButNotLeast helping me recently as I work through some issues with the demos today.

But coming to it new in 2016, three years after the thread was started and five or six years after the earliest of the demo discs were published, it's confusing. Particularly, the first post has a mixture of partially redundant demos and links to dead projects / torrents. To give back in a small way, this is a snapshot of available demos as of July 2016. I've downloaded all of these and done a spot check that the files aren't corrupted.

The zip file contains a Torrent or MEGA link that's active, Case and Disc artwork (except when too large for AVS attachments), and the URL to the original thread (when applicable). They're listed below in no particular order:

The Best Of The Demo Discs Demo Disc" BD9/DVD-DL

2015 Bass Demo Disc

CINEMASCOPE Blu-ray Demonstration Disc

Home Theater Demo Disc - Version 2.0

3D Demo Disc Reelwood 3D

Reelwood Demo Disc 2016 -Dolby Atmos -dts:X

Reference Blu-Ray Demo Disc - BD9 (DVD-DL Media + BD50) (This download is for the 50GB complete Blu-ray. Its thread and some of the torrents in the first post of this thread provide 9GB disc downloads of its individual sub-sections.)

Reference 2: Blu-Ray Demo Disc (BD9s & BD50) (This download is for the 50GB complete Blu-ray. Its thread and some of the torrents in the first post of this thread provide 9GB disc downloads of its individual sub-sections.)

The ULTIMATE Bass Demo Disc 1 - 4 (Vol 1 has been revised since described in this thread, with a new menu and some changes to the clips. Vols 3 & 4 are not ISOs and have no artwork, but are folders of nicely labeled M2TS and MKV files.) (Vol 4 has a working torrent, but the torrent file is too large to attach to AVS. The original thread has a link to it from a sketchy / scary linking site.).

Additionally, there are numerous individual HD Trailers and 3D Trailers for download, if tediously one by one.

The one significant demo I couldn't find was Reelwood 2014 Demo Disc including THX WOW! 1080p 6.1 dts-HD Master Audio. Its torrent is not seeded and there's no MEGA link.
