Slow? Does Netflix even have any plans to rent UHD BD titles?
UHD BD titles have been out for forty months now.

"Captive State" a new release is only available DVD around here. I know that there so far is no UHD disc release but there is a BD version. Unfortunately too many of today's movies are upverts to 4K either because they weren't really shot in 4K or used a 2K digital intermediate.

Captain Marvel UHD BD is indeed available today at the RedBox. The good news is it can be reserved via iOS device now. The bad news it’s seemingly only available in one location (not near me) even in the Detroit test market...hmmm.

I was at a local supermarket today and the Redbox guy was stocking titles including putting up the "Us" poster, so I asked him if it was going to be available UHD and he said yes.

Hopefully...in all areas as well!

On another note...I see you’re going 8K long before most of Us (no pun intended).

Yes, Amazon should be delivering my 8K TV this afternoon.

Unfortunately I checked and I don't see "Us" available UHD at Redbox so the guy gave me misinformation.

Not here as well...only BD and SD versions. However, Captain Marvel UHD was added this week.

In the meantime I'm noticing Redbox mainly getting DVDs anymore not so many BDs. And UHDs are rare.

It’s trending the same way lately in S.E Michigan’s RedBoxes. Family Video, however, consistently delivers new titles every Tuesday, without failure, SD, BD, and UHD. Interestingly, FV is now also making “CBD’s” available!

UHD titles have been available for online “reservation” via desktops for sometime now but only recently via “portable” devices. However, in either case, the number of titles are limited to about two dozen older titles and newer/current titles are slow in coming.

how long has it been available online?...whenever I checked 4K titles were never available to reserve online...my local NYC Redbox kiosks seem to have most of the latest movies available in 4K- Into the Spider-Verse, Aquaman, Captain Marvel etc

the great thing about now being able to reserve Redbox UHD/4K titles online is that you can now apply coupon discounts...and Redbox is constantly sending me promo codes/discounts on rentals...

Yup, I've been applying the mw popcorn promo codes. DVDs and BD are free with those and just the difference in price between UHD and BD for UHD discs. Still waiting for something that isn't a tentpole movie for UHD. BTW, those codes also can be applied at the kiosk but of course easier to do online.

every few days it seems Redbox sends me promo codes for a free 1 night rental or rent 1 get 1 free or $1.50 off a rental etc...I don't remember the last time I paid more then .75 cents for a Blu-ray rental...I haven't rented a UHD title yet so I'm looking forward to finally being able to check out some titles I wasn't interested in purchasing

I'm thinking the industry is thinking the UHD BD is the HD-DVD of today. Cheaper to license titles in 4K to streaming services, no COG, no codec fee.

There's real slim pickings for UHD rental at the Box. The only new release I saw there in 4K was Lego Movie 2. I wanted the new Pet Semetery. But they don't have it.

Yah they really don’t seem to be interested in this new market.

But who knows - maybe the only people who care are posting in this thread.

Are there just not many new UHD releases lately? It is strange that Redbox finally got search and online reservations working for UHD Blu rays and no new titles since then.

Maybe I’m becoming jaded but they seem to be actively sabotaging the test so they can say “see? No one wanted them!”

I think it has more to do with the studios being interested in licensing discs to Redbox. MPEG-LA's licensing for HEVC on discs is also a reason for lack of UHD titles.

And then there is the situation where Redbox only recently opened up more locations for UHD. Some distributors may see this as an opportunity but they can't make things happen overnight. Let's see what happens in the fall.
