No, it's from the DTS cinema "CD" that plays with the time code from the actual 35mm film (the DVD 5.1 track is a home version and it's Dolby Digital not DTS). A "fan" group made a BD from the DVD & BD and added the 35mm DTS cinema soundtrack and synced it. There's other fan recreated movies like the original Star Wars color corrected version recompiled from actual 35mm film footage and what not that have appeared in various places on the Net (in the past at least).

DTS cinema is completely different from home dts. The codecs are different. DTS cinema codec is actually the basis to what we know today as aptX codec used in Bluetooth. DTS home codec is unrelated in all but name. You cannot just take the two as DTS cinema will not play.

DTS home codec is correctly know as DTS coherent audio. All home codecs derive from this.

Your DTS encode most likely came from a DTS based release.

Hey, whatever you say. (After all, it's clearly impossible for someone to convert it. Never mind the fan release said it was converted from the cinema DTS CD and never mind there was no home DTS version ever released to my knowledge. It's clearly the Dolby Digital or TrueHD track converted over to DTS (which still takes an encoder to do after decoding DD or TrueHD) since that makes it sound so different from those very tracks as I already indicated above). Yup. It's a fake. Pretend I never said anything about it.

Instead look at Paramount movie releases (that generally just convert the cinema versions straight over without changing all the levels like some studios). Top Gun even in mere DTS 6.1 is darn nice sounding. I'm hoping they do a new Atmos soundtrack for the 4K disc, which I'm guessing will coincide in some fashion with the release of Top Gun 2 next year.
