Lane Smith, as Emmett Seaborn who I believe, was partially patterned after ABC News' science reporter Jules Bergman, was excellent and Jay Mohr, as the kind of oily character that he often plays, was very good.

Cool thing is, Bergman played himself in Apollo 13 and a Six Million Dollar Man episode with a space mission plot.
