If you're referring to the Johnnie To directed Hong Kong film, then would be fantastic news. Don't Magnolia hold the US rights? Suppose theres always a possibility after where they went with The Host. Tartan have apparantly authored an Election blu-ray though any release is still unconfirmed. These are the films I'm wanting to see on hi-def. Despite their patchy DVD record, Tartan going blu-ray was far more important to me than Paramount going HD-DVD. Tartan hold the UK and US rights to some potentially mouth watering future blu-ray releases, and just as long as they get the authoring part down properly (or pay to get it done externally) then cant wait for the releases to come. Especially considering it doesnt look like Hong Kong or South Korea will be going the hi-def route en masse anytime soon...

I noticed that this was available now on YesAsia. No idea what it looks like on Blu-Ray, but I ordered it anyhow.

HK and US are the same region.

Ridiculous codec tier sig gone. Still AVC/24bit lossless fanboy.

Studio quality tier
Most Major studios>Small Studios>dogs>cats>Warner(the guys that do new movies)

Also awaiting my copy. Aside from any of the top blockbuster and catalogue releases, this is my most anticipated disc of the year. Such a damn good movie.

Received mine today from DDDHouse.

Popped it in my laptop's blu-ray drive and immediately noticed a nice picture (very thin veil of grain -not overkill, but definitely not DNR'd like Patton Blu-ray).

Will reserve my final PQ score and Audio score after I watch it properly in my hometheater tonight.

By the way, the audio listed is DTS-MA 7.1 !!!!

Just sat through this. No complaints from me and certainly a step up from the only other HK Blu-Ray I've picked up to date (the first Infernal Affairs). Image is plenty sharp when the film permits and, as Rieper pointed put, natural grain is mildly apparent throughout so doesn't look like there's been any artificial tinkering. Colour and contrast are much improved over the HK DVD. Colours are bolder yet skin ones etc. are much more natural, and there's no longer the murkiness in the many dark scenes. Video bitrate seemed healthy but all over the place, averaging out at approx. 25mbps.

The DTS-MA is mighty fine as well. The incredibly staged shootouts sound as crisp and weighty as they possibly could, as does Guy Zerafa's great score. Subtitles are spot on and can't say I spotted a single grammatical blunder.

Decent disc, stunning film. Recommended.

Just to elaborate on the rushed impressions from yesterday. Those with 2.35:1 setup's will be pleased to know that the subs are right at the bottom of the frame and not in the bottom border. The short making-of is also subtitled which I don't recall it was on the HK DVD.

Definitely satisfied with the disc and looking forward to the other two Johnny To films (Mad Detective and PTU) supposedly imminent on HK Blu-Ray...

On a scale of 1~5 how much would you rate the PQ of Exiled ?

Hey lgans316, probably a 3.5-4. As said, noticed no technicals problems whatsoever but the film has alot of dark interior scenes that were never going to lend themselves as demo material. The later scene in the quarry/canyons came over as very soft too, but is all down to the art style. The many stylish close-up's yield plenty of detail however, though the most impressive scenes for me were the beautiful long perspective shots of the Macau streets outside Wo's home. They look great with plenty of depth and sharpness.

Sorry raoul, didn't check the trailer. Notice it said Trailers though, so they might even be trailers for the other Mega Star BR's. Will have a look tonight. Only thing might be that they're in 480i though, as the Making-Of is.

Thanks for the subtitle update. I ordered my copy last week...I thought I'd just live with it, if they were in the lettboxing. That's good news, thanks again for sharing.

Thanks a ton Rieper for posting the BD Info scan report. Full utilization of the space without compromising on the encode though it's crammed onto a BD-25.
