Well they've never had any UHD/HDR titles. While they have tons of them on their streaming side.
i could not go back to Netflix for disc rentals even if I wanted to. Since over 95% of my disc rentals are UHD BD titles.

For me I probably won't go to 4K unless my 3D TV dies before I do

well my que seems to have had a few "waits" removed so at least thats better. If I buy any disc its 4k UHD. So thats my preferred method of watching. never streamed a 4k HDR movie from Netflix since you have to pay for that service. seems thats the way of the future unfortunately. I have prime maybe test one out to see if the picture and Atmos is satisfactory or not.

Attached is my queue on Sunday night. 6 entries, 5 available. A disc should ship tomorrow. I expect tomorrow evening all but one or two of the oldest ones will be listed as "wait status"; a common occurrence. Titles show available until they are actually supposed to ship then mysteriously wait for a couple days. Over and over.

Just checked. They are shipping queue entry number 5, from 2015.

By tonight it's a guarantee that all prior ones will be wait status.

Same with me. The status is for that moment. I bet alot of disks come in Tue/Wed that are mailed out on Monday. That is probably why the waits suddenly show up in the middle of the week.

Just happened to me, too. Joker is No. 1 on my list and as of late yesterday afternoon showed no wait. They mailed number 8 and 11 on the list.

Maybe No. 11 isn't so bad. I started adding a bunch of old movies that I haven't seen in forever or may not have ever seen in their entirety. And I'd like to see them they way they are SUPPOSED to be, that is, without commercial interruptions (don't get me started!).With talk and references about the current series Westworld, my wife hadn't seen the movie so didn't know anything about it, so I put it on the list figuring we could get it AFTER all the new stuff on the list. Probably just as well as we might not have gotten it until after the series Westworld ended and then she wouldn't care about it.

Wow. Mailed out a disk yesterday (Monday), and just got email that the next disc in my list (Jexi) is being shipped today, Tuesday, estimated Friday delivery, although it usually comes in a day before.

just to add to the confusion, my Que has the top 11 as "short wait" , used to be the top 15.
but they did send my #1 movie on the list this time. No rhyme or reason it seems.

Sunday night only one of the top 7 discs showed wait status. All others appeared available. Monday they shipped #6 of 7, and here is the wait status list:

(picture inserted). For some reasons the movie Wetlands has been wait status for more than a year, without a break. Not sure why it is so popular.

I hope they don't do the same thing here. If so, I won't be using Netflix for awhile. I'll need to suspend my account.

Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon are trying to reduce bandwidth use in Europe because there’s a crunch given the amount of people online at one time. 4K and higher chews up bandwidth.

Netflix only carries a certain number of physical discs for each title. It’s a combination of popularity, licensing agreement, and genre+interest or something similar. Waitlists movies for popular titles are delayed more by the number of people ahead of you in the queue / number of discs. Waitlists for less popular the same, but with fewer in the queue are more likely. Then all are recycled once returned, but it’s not uncommon for more popular items to stay out a little longer. Think how people watch blockbusters more than once before returning.

And yes, there’s a tendency for movies to go out on Monday-Tuesday if something else has been returned on Friday-Saturday.

Have fun with it. Return on Monday, then move what you really want up to the top of the queue on Tuesday. Not guaranteed to work, but it often gets me titles I really want just by getting off the normal watch-return cycle that most people are on.

Just wondering... Is anyone else being careful as to how they handle the envelope and discs in light of the coronavirus and not being certain just how long it can survive on various surfaces?

I'm not freaking out, just cautious. My age puts me in the"high" risk category, as most deaths are expected as we get older and I'm several notches above where the increases begin

I take daily walks, weather permitting, talk with neighbors at a distance, 6 feet and like you wash my hands frequently

I'm black and 50. I hope to make it to 75! My father's family die in their early 70's. My mother's family die in their mid 80's. Her genes were good before 40. His genes are kicking in hard at 50.

I'm trying to stay up-to-date on the coronavirus information.

So, if one is dependent on time only to be safe:
  • 24 hours for the mailer,
  • 3 days for the disc, and
  • somewhere in between for the sleeve.

Seems to me that if one wants to be particularly safe, wash ones hands for at least 20 seconds after touching the mailer, the sleeve, or the disc. Of course, the variety of environmental conditions a disc in a mailer is exposed to may reduce the time the virus survives, but remember the last person to touch the mailer is likely the mail carrier.

Right now we are turning over discs so slowly at my place that time alone has made the discs safe.

Thanks for your input Mark. Pretty much agrees with my thoughts. I figured the disc is "probably" safe considering the time in transit to me, and yes, the postman is an unknown so I sometimes just bring the envelope in and let it sir for a day or two minimum and wash my hands after handling it. I minimize contact with the disc even though as noted, it has probably spent a couple of days getting to me after the machine inserts the disc into the envelope.

I have 200 disposable glove coming, due Monday, so I will use those where it makes sense. For sure when I have to hit the gas station which as it is now is about every two months. We can't leave the county we live in so no visits to see my son and church services are on line for now and bible study class is on hold for now. My son makes deliveries to Costco and when he arrived there yesterday, 4 hours before opening, there were people in line already!

Stay safe,

Is the Post Office slowing non-First Class mail down? I normally get a disc on the day, or the day before, Netflix says it would come in. Not this week. The queue also shows my returned movie as not yet actually received.

So far here in Indianapolis area, same as usual. Ours to to Cincinnati. Two days each way, but recognized as returned on the first business day after pickup. So, put in Saturday outgoing may, they ship something on Monday, usually.

I've got 20 titles in my queue and all show a Wait time. I was notified today (Tuesday) that they received my returns, but over the past few weeks it seems like they don't actually process and send out titles until Thursday. I used to receive them next day, but over the past year or so it now takes 2 days. I'm guessing the virus has something to do with the constant delay in processing and sending out new discs, but it is somewhat annoying.

I put 2 in the mail Sunday and got a shipment notice at 1:45PM today, Tuesday (14th), and expected delivery is tomorrow (15th). I know the time can vary up to 4 or 5 days and I figure those discs are likely coming from another part of the country...
