This time the price is not an error. At least one retailer has hit the magic price of $199 and with free shipping and HDMI cable too. Bare in mind that with that price, buyers get 5 Free HD DVD movies too.

And with the 5 Free HD DVD valued at $150 and $15 for the HDMI cable not forgeting the value of the shipping, the actual price of the player is more a giveaway!!

$199 - ($150+$15) = $34

I would get one now if Robert ships outside of USA. Other retailers do ship to international destinations though

That's cool... so what is the difference between the A2 and other HD-DVD players???

Also... I'm not sure if you've realized this by now, but you are reading my sig.

That is one good price. These are going to fly. I hope value electronics is ready for the fatwallet/slickdeals affect. One thing I can say about the format war: it's making it easy for the consumer to jump in and enjoy HD movies a lot cheaper.

As a consumer I would say that this player is mostly targeted at those whose display handles up to 1080i. If you want a 1080p HD DVD player, slap in another $100 and 1080p is yours

Else A2 is almost 'identical' to A20 spec wise.

with prices dropping like this, is it that unreasonable to see the rumored chinese models hitting the shelves at Walmart for $99 this holiday season?

People, network TV is broadcast at 720p or 1080i. Every TV has to handle 1080i so buying an A2 is a no brainer as all TV's will handle it.

When is Fox/ABC going to abandon 720p broadcasts? The sooner the better.

These things are going to fly. I wonder if this is some precursor to other news, like the 360 prices dropping soon. I can't believe the price.

Well, I hope Robert is ready for a bunch of orders. This has hit Slickdeals and Fatwallet. It's only a matter of time before the masses jump in. I hope he is ready and has a large number of players in stock.

It says "shipping week of 07/30/07". Does that mean there aren't any currently in stock?

Have an Onkyo 805 receiver and having trouble setting up Audyssey? HERE is a mini how-to.Click HERE to check out my comparison review of 5 different projection screen fabrics.

So much for the 360 HD DVD player, lol

Microsoft... You aren't going to sell many HD DVD add-ons at the $200 price, not with $200 Toshiba HD DVD players.

Damn, I think I'm ready to ditch my HD-A1 now...

When does this deal end, I won't be able right away, but this deal is too good to pass up.

Loading times + size are the main reasons I'll probably upgrade now.

Well, for the people who have been waiting for prices to drop and are unsure about jumping into buying an HD DVD player - this is a great deal and opportunity for them! A 2nd generation player for $199 with free shipping and a free HDMI cable along with the 5 free movies? You can't beat that deal.
