I wouldn't be surprised if most people here have no idea what Lexx is, but man I'd love to see this show - or even one of the movies in HD. Doesn't Universal have the rights here in the States?

I saw Stanley Tweedle at my local gas station a couple of months ago. The attendant recognized him to and gave him a free newspaper. He was driving a Chrysler and not a Moth at the time.
I forgot to ask him however, if Lexx was coming out in HD-DVD.

You really saw Brian Downey? I wonder how often he's recognized in public. I wonder how many people who might recognize him actually think he 's like the character he played and just stay away from him.

I'd get it

The rights appear to be a mess though according to Wikipedia.

DVD Releases
Seasons one to three of Lexx were released on VHS and Region 2 DVD in the UK by Contender Limited, although the Season 3 DVDs were initially exclusive to the MVC Entertainment chain of stores and all volumes have since been deleted. Contender failed to obtain the rights to Season 4, which instead went to Momentum Pictures (a subsidiary of Alliance Atlantis), however they have not released any DVDs.

Seasons two through four were released in the US (DVD Region 1) by Acorn Media in indlvidual and boxset formats. Due to Paramount Pictures previously holding the home video licence to the initial four TV movies (under their alternative US/Showtime title of "Tales from a Parallel Universe"), Acorn were unable to secure rights to release the movies in the USA.

The four TV movies comprising season one were, however, released in Canada (DVD Region 1) by Koch, again in individual and boxset formats. They are now out-of-print.

All four seasons were also released on Region 2 DVD in Germany. Unlike the rest of the world, the German DVDs of season 1 do still appear to be in-print as of February 2007.

Maybe a German HD-DVD set?

I'd get it too. I've only watched through the first part of season two before I moved on to other stuff, but it was a cool little show, and I've been meaning to watch the rest. If I could do that on HD-DVD, all the better.

I'm a big fan of that series.
Two people recognized him at that moment. He was a very likable person. He had a big smile on his face thanked the gas attendant for the newspaper and called him a gentleman.
There's another story I have and that's one time I was talking about this crazy show called Lexx to a colleague of my wife. The colleague said he grew up with the creator of that show Lex Gigeroff. He said Lex named many characters in the show after himself ...his kids...his pets..

Haha!! I'd like to see at least the first 3 seasons on HD-DVD. I'd buy them. And the first Zev was pretty hot!

If anyone still cares, seasons 1-4 have been added to Prime. Where is the series from?

There's always a "chance"....but it was shot and edited for 4:3 TV Screen....so there is THAT little problem....

This subject was addressed by the fol. LEXXVERSE Webpage...only some seasons were shot in "HD":
http://www.lexxverse.com/view_topic.php?id=482

Latest, Complete 9-disc DVD Release for North America market was in 2016 [with a US Parental Rating of NOT REVIEWED]....but be sure to click on "ECHO BRIDGE" under Comments....individual Discs ($$$$) by ALLIANCE/ACORN are believed to provide a somewhat "better" picture due to less compression....

BTW: Several years ago, I actually ordered a REGION 4 Complete DVD Box Set [by Beyond Entertainment] from an Australian source. It contains 19-discs [hence less compression], and tracks are 576i/p format, the original PAL format....and hence higher rez than ANY 480i/p US Release. Cover design sez 2007 by Force Entertainment, so my Cardboard Box Set must have come out in 2010, as described in the "REGION 4" section in fol. Wiki Article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lexx
Here are images and details....and NO, I don't remember off hand whether it was censored or not...compared to what I had seen on Cable TV many years earlier....which may or may NOT have been censored as well....I really don't KNOW if I've EVER seen an UN-censored release for comparison purposes:
https://dvdbash.com/2012/01/28/lexx-...-pal-australia

Yes, my OPPO BD-Player as well as my old Pioneer DV-563A "Universal" CD/SACD/DVD Player ALSO play 576i/p PAL discs and support that format to PAL-only type TV's....as well as my Samsung UDTV [all formats] without downconversion to 480i/p. I'm pretty sure that this Box Set is Region Free, since it does NOT state a specific Region number [and neither my Pioneer nor my OPPO has any Region Free Modifications]. And FWIW, it has an Australian Parental Rating of "MA 15+".

FYI: Fol. is a REGION 2 [PAL] DVD Box Set [by MediumRare Entertainment] from UK Amazon, also containing 19-discs and has a UK Parental Rating of 15+:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexx-Comple.../dp/B004JESO2E
https://www.myreviewer.com/DVD/14038...Jitendar-Canth [Region 2 Review]

I'll leave it to you to sort out the differences between the various versions....esp since it seems the foreign releases were subject to censorship....
