Hi everyone, I recently got a xbox 360 with hd dvd's and so far have been BLOWN AWAY with the awesome quality of hd . been comparing for myself back to back hddvd and reg for transformers, king kong, planet earth, the host, and 300. so far almost all the movies are a night and day difference with darker blacks, no macroblocking, vivid color, and incredible detail with the hddvd's on my 46" dlp rptv.
However the one movie which I find the least amount of difference (to me) is 300. According to this website 300 has an excellent pq compared to reg dvd. But going back and forth between the discs I haven't noticed any significant diff other than slightly better colors on hd. Anyone else feel this way? or could perhaps shed light on why that is. thanks

What, honestly, do you want people to say? If you've been "BLOWN AWAY" with HD DVD, what more do you need to hear? If 300 isn't doing it for you (and boy, does it do it for me at 1080/24p on a 100" screen) then so be it.

Cheers,
Paul Cordingley

I just want to know if others are seeing huge leaps in pq with 300 hd dvd compared to reg, or are like me and think the change is not nearly as significant as it is in transformers or king kong.

300 is highly stylized, with large amounts of grain added post production. Although the differences are there, you may not see them as much because your eye is tricked by the (apparent) lack of resolution and detail due to the large grain effect. I can't speak for you, but it looked great to me. However, I can understand why it may not be the best movie to show off the differences between SD and HD because of the high grain content.

The first 2 screens in the thread below are of 300 HD DVD on a 14ft screen using an HT5000/ISCOIII. The SD version is not even close.

Remember 300 is crushed an grained for effect

If you dont see a difference then i suspect your display is not resolving the finest of details.
