I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here yet. If it has and I missed it I apologize.

Warner is going to go ahead with it's plans to support HD DVD until mid-year before withdrawing support. I am somewhat surprised by this considering they are no longer bound by contract to do so but it is newsworthy. Especially for those who have HD-DVD players.

That's not new news as far as I know. Am I wrong? They said through the end of May when they made the Blu announcement.

Your not wrong. WirelessGuru lives under a rock apparently. This was Warners intentions from the the statement given around CES.

But the indication was that they had a contractual agreement with Toshiba that could not be broken which is why they were continuing until May. The information I have read indicated that when Toshiba dropped it's support of the HD DVD format, all studios that were bound were free from those contractual agreements. While it may not be new news, in my opinion it is certantly unexpected.

BTW, I see this has been posted but the thread was locked. I'm not sure what is allowed to be posted around here anymore and what isn't as the consistency in locked and deleted threads is non-existent. I guess if this isn't news or against AVS rules, feel free to report it and have it closed. No hard feelings. I just didn't notice a reference posted and the auto-generator didn't pop up any previous threads that were relative for the word "Warner".

Gee, and your post history of 240 one liners sure ads a lot of productive discussion to AVS.
