I'm going to get a broken NAD 524 CD player and i want to try fixing it.
The problem is that the tray won't open, i haven't had my hands on it yet, so i can't say if its the button, or the motor that could be the problem.

I know these NAD cd players have a bad reputation, i read about allot about problems with playback, but none about the tray.

I'm not an elektricien, but i know how to handle a soldering iron, and i'm not a complete ******, so i thought, maybe i can fix it.

Does anyone know of a similar problem, and how to fix it?
I get de player next sunday, so by then i know more.

Could be very simple. According to this thread the belt can stretch out and would be an easy fix (like a vacuum cleaner).

Most of the time it is a bad control chip. It could be a bad operating belt or gear though. Open it up and study the mechanism, and if there is no obvious physical problem, see if you can download a service manual or buy one from NAD.

I HAVE JUST REWORKED ONE ONLY TO FIND THE TRAY IS DAMAGED. Anyone have one from a blown unit????

The loader is reading and all working.
Its a good build, large logic pcb and a toroidal!
The sound is excellent, cant see why some say the audio is not tops!
