No Turntable forum?!?!?!?!

As the title indicates, I'll be danged if I can find one here. Wondering why not...or am I missing something somewhere?

Turntables are usually discussed in the 2 channel forum or here.

lol, sounds like you've been danged! Surprising to me too though.....I'm just starting some product research myself and seems strange that the info isn't as easy to locate as for other product types.

Maybe......I love the idea of pure, uncompressed analog audio, but really doubt I'd ever detect any difference between vinyl playback and playing DSD files like I currently do when possible. I also recognize that there has been a long following of purists to this format, but also a huge influx of trendy hipsters that just like to be different (like everyone else, lol) and nostalgia driving new interest here. I'm looking (half-way) because my wife expressed approval for this (without me prompting) and any win in the audio realm with her is something I need to leverage, or at least consider! Provided my selections are well mixed, a tt gives me another route to accessible "hi-res" music....I really do have to consider this.

Think again. It is not hi-res by a long shot.

The content of any album on the market today will have gone through a digital intermediary or storage already anyway. The only difference is where you're shifting the DAC step to.

Yes, even the HD-DVD forum has posts already this year. Crazy.

Oh, 100% true, but if that format is a high rate DSD format I don't think my ears know that difference. I can pick up a lot of dynamics with my ear that cue sound stage and instrument isolation impressions on DSD that I don't pickup off lower quality formats. Would expect records to be pretty close to that on a good system and no dust :0)

Well, this is true, but doesn’t each medium still possibly result in different outcomes depending on the medium? And don’t forget that there’s plenty of music from the old days that will be a non-digital medium.

The two channel forum is just where most of the vinylphiles hang out.

Why on earth would LPs have the resolution of DSD? Why would you even think that?
