Sony IC Recorder

I checked Sny's website and found no answer. This is the closest topical forum on AVS?

I have a Sony IC Recorder ICD-BX700 and I have been using it to record stories from my 95 year old father. I would like to edit the conversations but do not know if it is possible to transfer the content to a program on my desktop. There is a a speaker and microphone jack.

Congrats on having the good sense to get this stuff from your dad while he's still around!

You’ll probably have to transfer the recordings in real time via a software recording /editing program like Audacity. Depending on your computer, that may require an outboard USB sound card. The Sony’s headphone jack will feed the signal to the computer or soundcard.

Another alternative would be to get a vintage component CD recorder (Pioneer made the best ones, back in the 90s) and record to disc, which could then be ripped to your computer.

"A nice mid-fi system," according to an audiophile acquaintance.

I greatly appreciate your suggestions!
I had been meaning record him for years and it finally worked out at christmas time. He likes to tell stories about the old days, much to the chagrin of my Mother. Perhaps someday, I could add the recording to Story Corp. I would like to remove most of my voice from the recordings. I will attempt to do as you suggested and post my results here.
