Marantz CD5005 Versus CD5001

I recently purchased a new Marantz 5005 cd player, to replace a Marantz 5001 which quit working. The new 5005 sounds good. However, I have been a little disappointed in the sound compared to the 5001.
There was more of a sense of air, and space around instruments played back on the 5001. Also, vocals sounded more three dimensional , and slightly better defined. The 5005, to me, sounds rather dry and less musical by comparison.

There has been no change in the associated equipment and cables, which include a Parasound P3 preamp, Parasound A23 power amp, and Polk LSi15 speakers.
Will spending more on a cd player get me more of what I liked about the 5001? I am interested in anyone's opinion about this. Thanks.

Spec wise they seem the same. Same S/N ratio of 110. The 5001 used the CS4392 DAC the 5005 the CS4398. I'd give it a bit of playing time to burn in the electronics a bit.

Supercharged Song Towers, Oppo BDP-203, Anthem MRX-520, LG B6 OLED
Headphone Rig: Oppo BDP-95, Burson Audio Soloist MKII Headphone amp/ Sennheiser HD800S, Sennheiser HD650
