Marantz CD5005 or CD6006

I'm looking to add a dedicated CD player and was strongly leaning towards the Marantz CD5005, but then I started reading about DACs and now I'm considering the CD6006. I know they use the same DACs but the 6006 also can stream music which I do a lot, mainly Amazon Music Unlimited. My quandary is that I currently stream music directly through my Marantz receiver that has a different DAC. Is the DAC in the 6006 CD player worth the extra hundred and let the DAC in it also process my streaming sources? Are there any potential downsides for the 6006 handling streaming other than losing onscreen display?

Nevermind. I was confusing the Cd6006 with the NA6006. I couldn't figure out how to delete this post.

I'm not sure what DAC's the 5005/6006 uses compared to what's in your SR6014, but I'd be willing to bet you couldn't tell the difference. You probably know this already but the DAC's in the CD player will only come into play if you are connecting it by analog RCA cables and will not come into play if you connect the CD player via Optical or Coax digital.

On another note, it looks like your an avid hiker, and I am as well. Attached is a picture from my Sierra trip this past August.

Wow that's beautiful. I have had to retire my hiking boots. Torn meniscus in both knees. So no more backpacking. I can still do day trips. Anyway thanks for the reply. Yes I was aware of the optical/coax/rca input. I think I'm going to go with the 5005, $1200.00 for the ND8006 would be really be pushing the budget. The DAC in the receiver sounds pretty good to my ears, but now my speakers are so much better (they are no longer the weak link) and I was wondering if there was an audible difference between the DAC in the receiver vs. the cd player.

The CD6006 should be better than the CD5005 due to its higher quality DAC chip and analog output stage (HDAM, etc). How much better is up for debate.

Actually the product pages say they use the same CL 4398 DAC chip, and the 5005 has the HDAM SA2 output stage as well. So it's not clear to me what the differences are.

Build quality I imagine. I had a Marantz 5000 series CD player at one time (I think it was the 5001, but I'm not sure) and it was of mediocre build quality and actually had a plastic front if I remember. I know my Marantz DVD player did.
