Question Portable DAP

Hi all,

I'm looking at buying a portable DAP to partner with my B&W PX headphones. All my music is currently ripped to FLAC and takes up about 130GB of disk space. I don't want to have to transcode it so FLAC playback is a must. Expandable storage is also needed to cope with current and future demands and bluetooth for my headphones.

I'm after a decent player but not the absolute top end so have short listed the following:
  1. Astell & Kern A&Norma SR15;
  2. FiiO M11 Pro; and
  3. Cowon Plenue R2.
Locally, I can source them all for between AUD700 and AUD850 so I'm not fussed on the price differential.

Can anyone give feedback (positive and negative) on any of the above please or make any particular recommendations?

TIA.

I have had the M11 non Pro for about 6 months. Faultless.
Plus it has two SD card slots.

What is wrong with the DAC in that device? Used with the correct audio player that bypasses the android audio API, it should sound great and if I remember right, has SD card storage

Not an option I had considered. It does have a micro-SD card slot (which I use).

I have no idea what DAC is in the phone. What would be a suitable player that avoids the Google audio API?

I would be concerned about battery life though and being stuck with a flat phone battery when I need to use the phone. A seperate device is preferable from that point of view.

If you are going to bring a second device, make it an external batteryand use the phone. It has a good DAC. Usb audio player pro is the app you want.
