I use my iPhone. The iPod touch is still available. 32 gb for 199, 128 gb for 299 and 256 gb for 399. If you aren't part of the Apple universe (music ripped in iTunes) then you might look at Sony, they still make players.

Google 'best mp3 player 2020', and you'll get several lists, like this one.

https://www.bestproducts.com/tech/ga...music-players/

There are some on various lists that are high end units for hi rez file playback costing hundred or a few thousand, but Sony, Fiio, Sandisk have reasonably prices units available. Some can use an SD card for memory expansion, something Apple doesn't provide. So make sure you get enough memory or one with a SD card option.

Supercharged Song Towers, Oppo BDP-203, Anthem MRX-520, LG B6 OLED
Headphone Rig: Oppo BDP-95, Burson Audio Soloist MKII Headphone amp/ Sennheiser HD800S, Sennheiser HD650
