Bel Canto - PL-2 with DVI - Universal Disc Player

Hello guys and ladies
I found one of these in the dark corner of a second hand store. A very very dark corner of a place
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of this unit? This guy is saying how it cost this and that and so on, well I told him it’s untested and looks like it’s been sitting for a long long time.
So should I take the chance with it? I really don’t want to pay him much for this thing as he has no way to show me that it works
Even if it does not power up. Is it worth the repair cost ?

w/ DVI? I wouldn't spend 10 bucks on it. It was 5200 new. It should be easy to plug in and pop in a disc and see if it plays, even without sound. The display counter should display a track number and time.

I assume you are going to use this as a CD player. If it works for that, maybe 30 bucks, tops. DAC chips are so much better and cheaper now days, I wouldn't spend much.

I'd also see if it is easy to clean the unit up, especially getting to the laser lens to clean it up.

Supercharged Song Towers, Oppo BDP-203, Anthem MRX-520, LG B6 OLED
Headphone Rig: Oppo BDP-95, Burson Audio Soloist MKII Headphone amp/ Sennheiser HD800S, Sennheiser HD650

Thanks
I did offer home 30 and he started off with the classic phrase.
Well they sold for $5800 new and people are asking this that and the others on eBay and stuff!!

And I told him I go well that’s what they’re asking not what they’re selling for, and that it’s all technology and that I would not pay anything more for it. Thanks for your information it was very helpful I may go back and see if I can’t work on them with it but I’m not gonna pay any more than that for it

Unless it's a classic the value of audio equipment drops like a stone. I still have a Krell Showcase processor. $4000 new. Can get maybe $400 now.
