Don't want to get into politics here, but many of us in the US are going to be receiving Stimulus Rebates to the tune of $600. I thought it might be helpful to plan out some new subwoofers in the $600 range so that we can do our part to help the US economy (sorry to our Canadian and other worldly readers...of course your input on subwoofer plans is still greatly appreciated).

So how about it? Let's leave MDF and other costs out of it. Stay close to $600 for woofer(s) and amp(s). What are your ideas?

SDX15 or Tempest-X are probably the best choices. I'd personally go with the Tempest-X, but it needs a bigger box. I'd go with a rack-mount amp if possible.

All kinds of ways of getting there, With the prices involved, you can prolly squeeze two tempests or a single Maelstrom out. How about a pair of MJ-18's?

That's what I said...2 MJ-18's and an LT1300. That'd be a nice $6-700 sub.

Maelstrom + something was what I was thinking but, what amp?? I couldn't think of one for $200 or $250.

I dont get a rebate check! I think its a flawed rebate

You sure its $600?
Not $300 for some ppl

My mom works for Sony, and she brought home a copy of "Starhawk BETA"
I quickly slipped it into my trusty PS3, and started playing.

Some great ideas so far! It's $600 for heads of household and $300 per dependent. Or $300 if your significant other takes half of yours, too...

I think we can single-handedly spark the economy with our new subwoofers...

LOL! With cell phones and clothing "needs" I'm sure they're more expensive than my little ones who don't know about that stuff yet!

I think DJdeals has the best deal on the Behringer EP2500...unless you can find a good used or b-stock somewhere else.

I like the deals mentioned so far...for those into servo subs you can order a pair of the new servo 12's from gr-research and a servo plate amp from Rythmik...or go with the Rythmik 15 as mentioned above...

Any PR deals to be had?

Lol! $519.99 for an EP2500, like thats ever happened! They just want to be able to make it sound like its a better deal than it is. I get mine at guitar center for $269 each when I order 4 or more, $299 when I get one. Audiolines sells them B stock with the full warranty for $249.

Uh, maybe you mean 1989? My check came through and all 4 kids - each born b4 1999 - qualified at $300/each. My money went to new paint and an entertainment center. I think there is enough left over for a six pack...
