I am looking at getting a Crown CE-1000 amp for sub duty........is this anything to be concerned about (from the CE manual), or is it simply a limiter?

4.1.5 Compression
A full-time compressor is in-line with the signal,
reducing the risk of damage to your speakers.

Honestly I would pass on the CE-1000 or CE-2000 for sub duty, these are in no way related to the CE-4000. ( BCA, PFC )

Google CE 1000 or CE 2000 problems.

Ask your doctor if DIY is right for you. Side effects of DIY may include anxiety, elevated blood pressure, lightheadedness, rapid heartbeat, skeletal muscle flaccidity, euphoria, psychological dependence, insomnia, confusion, blurred vision, impulsivity, uncontrolled or repeated movements.

Thanks Michael..........I think I will stick with good ol' reliable EP2500/4000's (I have two here)......I was just looking for something different. Every time a find a used pro amp (QSC, Crown, Crest, Samson, etc.) on CList, they are usually beat to hell, and the price/performance ratio keeps me coming back to the EP series.

Skip it and get the EP4000, much better bang for the buck.

I guess you should stop looking at craig list and more at flea bay they are cheaper just under 400 for a B stock with warranty.

Warning to prevent risk of injuries, you should always be smarter than the equipment you are about to use.

I bought a pair of XTI2000's locally for $750 brand new with warranty. Compared to an EP2500 they are a much more versatile amp with the built in DSP. Built in limiters, XO's, EQ. Also the fan is much, much quieter than the EP2500 which I also own.
