Just as a heads up...........

I just purchased on of these adapters to connect a qsc pro amp to my AVR. Initially I got no sound. Using a VOM I found xlr pins 2 and 3 were both connected to the RCA center pin.....say what?

Since it was my initial time using the qsc, although disappointed with Monoprice, it was a relief to find the problem, and doing the fix was easy in the xlr plug. However, for a typical user it may not be so. This is my first issue with any Monoprice items. Though I can't get the parts for what they are selling the assembly for, I can only hope for better quality control from them.

I would have contacted them first. sounds like a mistake that got through. I've gotten tons of cables from them and so have a lot of others around here and on other forums. the is the first I've heard of something like that. Personally i'd see how they take care of you before leaving a negative review

I would think contacting them should come before a negative review. They are one of the most respected companies around and I'm sure they would've made it right.

How can you say not to leave a negative review? Did it work properly? What if I didn't have the capability to troubleshoot and repair? Where would I be now? Paying a tech to troubleshoot my home theater equipment since new cables are not suspect? I feel constructive negative reviews serve the same purpose as my post here.....a heads up. I read all reviews on products and make my buying decision afterward. The review on mp was similar to my first post here as a warning to others. I am still a loyal monoprice customer and will contact them next week, and I am sure they will "make it right".

Your current review has NO information for other consumers regarding the companies replacement program and no info on whether or not they will give free replacement or refund.
You did it backwords.
Call first, write review second.

Once I found a MONSTER CABLE (not less) to be unsoldered. THERE!

Don't automatically assume it's a conspiracy. Lots of these things are still hand-made by Chinese cheap labor.

Seriously?! Don't you think you're being a little dramatic with the thread title?
I can understand cautioning others about a particular connector purchased from the company. But it's not like Monoprice actually makes the connectors. They just slap their name on all kinds of 3rd party stuff and call it their own.

To expect products to have 0% failure rate is naive. Any educated consumer would have known this and contacted the company and based their review on the total buying experience (product, customer service, etc..) after contacting the company and seeing what their resolution to the problem was.

You are also right in the fact that had you not been able to diagnose the problem yourself, you would have had to hire a technician (or had the pro amp RMAed) but you need to realize that by saving some money and not having a professional hook up your equipment (that you bought from them) you assume those risks. It's part of the Do It Yourself culture of any industry. You can save money by ordering/buying all of your parts/equipment at the best prices possible and then hooking it all up yourself and having to diagnose (or pay someone to diagnose) any problems that arise; Or you can go to a brick and mortar store and have them do everything and not have to worry about any of those problems, but pay about twice as much compared to the other option. It's all about the risk/reward.

I've got some stuff...but I need more stuff.

I appreciate the heads up and letting us know about your experience. I have ordered cables from them in the past with no trouble (sorry to hear about your bad luck).................... I also just used your link and actually ordered some more cables I need............... Oh the irony.

I suppose it's good you did post your thoughts here. It really confirmed that the majority of people have had nothing but satisfaction dealing with Monoprice. You can include me in that list of satisfied owners of their products. One thing I won't do is 'beware' of Monoprice, they are very established as reputable dealer of affordable cabling. Better quality control?? Puhlease...

Had a couple of 35 foot HDMI cables go bad. Sent them an email, get an RA number back, sent the cables back and 2 new ones were returned a week or so later. Painless except for having to send the bad ones back.

I sent mine to a three month program, and they no longer smoke crack or stay out late. When cables go bad, you have to be firm and offer solutions...

Ok, only kidding

I bought a Maytag washer a while back and on the first load of wash the motor started smoking. Long story short ONE wire was connected to the wrong post in a 20 plus wiring harness assembly. It happens, workers screw up all the time, should it have been caught by QC?, yes. I have a pile of monoprice cables in my theater with ZERO defects.

Not being a parent I made the assumption they were hopeless. My friends that are parents sometimes wish they could do the trade-in for defective products .

Said they enjoyed the manufacturing process tho.

I use the same cables with my QSC, haven't measured them, but assume there are no issues as they appear to work fine.

I have had problems with their HDMI cables though, I now have 2 that have failed on me, one of which was run behind the wall from my plasma which was a PIA to change.

But overall for the money they can't be beat IMO.

If the OP contacted Monoprice, they would have fixed the problem and this thread would not exist.

To find a problem and just give a negative review is crazy??? I hope the OP runs a perfect life and runs a perfect business because I wonder if he would like his customers to do the same thing???

Customer service DESERVES alteast a chance to fix ANY problem.

Monoprice replaced my 30ft HDMI cable after 3 months of usage (the end broke off). Monoprice has great customer service and low cost 100% garuntee on working products.

I think the OP has been sufficiently beaten down for the transgression.

My apologies to all who got their feathers ruffled.....I agree my title and post could have been different, and the post itself may have served better in another forum. Most folks here would have troubleshooted and repaired like I did......but I stand behind my actions, I am still a loyal Monoprice customer, and recommend purchasing from them.....nuff said.
