Thanks for the link, I'm familiar with that thread too; +8 months in development - would hope to have some T/S parms to model with by now...

I would doubt it. While everybody seems to talk about them, few of us seem to actually buy 18" woofers.

I think for a while your choices are going to be what they were fifteen years ago: buy a pro 18, or multiple smaller woofers. Fortunately the pro woofers now are even better than they were.

Yeah, think I'll look for something to hold my attention for the summer and see how the driver market looks this fall.

Of course, there's a killer 18 on clearance at Madisound right now: Aura NS18-992-4A. It has less xmax than a Maelstrom-X or LMS Ultra, but an underhung motor, and IMO looks better than both with the metal cone and pointed dustcap.

Having had most of the high-performance 18's myself (Ava18 -> Maelstrom-X -> LMS Ultra -> back to Maelstrom-X -> NS18), there isn't one I would pick over it if prices were similar.

There are probably a few Maelstrom-X's and other powerful 18's floating around, if you ask nicely. I might even know of one...

Believe me, I've modeled the Aura more then once the past couple of weeks

Thought about calling Madisound to see if they'd swing a brother-in-law deal for multiples.
