Lol, its not glued together. Dust cap is just sitting on the sample cone for pic.

The sample come had too stiff of a surround, but additional surround samples sent with the dustcaps were good. Last I heard from Nick he was planning on ordering the 18” cones, no idea on ETA in current situation though.

Would look better as a carbon fiber cone with black dust cap. IMHO, to each his/her own.

I’m sure that can be done once the cones arrive.

As can a carbon dustcap on a black cone. I believe Nick already has the dustcaps as well.

I like the all-carbon.

Hey just wondering if anyone could provide plans and cut list for a Full Marty with a UM18-22.

I was considering 4 x VBSS, but figured I would go with 2 Full Marty’s and go the full 4 down the track.

Powering these two with a iNuke 3000.

Thanks!

Ready to build

So Im going to build a Mini Marty this week with an ultimax 18. I have been playing with the Box volume excel spreadsheet. and the more I read the more I'm not confident in the port length.. I plan on a pretty standard dimension of the box. Just wanted to see if someone would look at he cut list and tell me I'm good or stupid haha thanks is advance.

Ok so I have never posted to AVS before and have a 5 post limit to get pictures included... My settings are just the standard minimarty from "avsforum.com/forum/155-diy-speakers-subs/1648673-martysub-faq-154.html#post57121996"

and the port length as of right not is 45 inches and I'm just not sure about that length
if that is best

Thanks
Jason

Right and the larger the um18 cab becomes the more drastic you can see how much better it is than the Pa460 on the low end.

Modeled it in HR. Looks good.
UM18 on 1000w
18hz 2nd order HPF
Tune: 18.9hz
Cone excursion: 19mm
Port velocity: 17m/s

On 1000w, you can take the hpf down to 15hz without excursion or velocity going excessive.

Awesome thanks so much.. is it best to set the HPF in the amp (nx6000d) or at the receiver? Im assuming at the nx but I won't have that in hand until Tuesday or Wednesday. Just not sure how the port length should be changed. Im a blank canvas right now so if anyone would build it a bit different let me know.

Thanks

Receiver will not have a hpf, just the lpf. You’ll need to set the hpf in the inuke. Use your receiver’s lpf normally, 80hz or so depending on your speakers.

I’d say your port length is good. You can bump it up to 48” to lower tune slightly, longer causes issues with port resonance. It would be a minimal change though.

Sweet.. Plan to keep it simple... when I inevitably get more bass hungry I plan to just add a second and a near field but this is just to cut my teeth.

Screen Measurement

So I was all set in my mind with my build then I remeasured some things in the theater.... my screen is 25 inches from the wall. My ports should be below the screen but the sub may have some area covered by the screen. Is it more important for the port to be away or am I going to also have problem with the speaker itself?

I have a silver ticket 120" with aluminum frame and acoustic material. It hangs. down from the ceiling so only mounted from the top rail..

Considering if I have to come up with a more shallow build thoughts?

Thanks
Jason

As long as there’s no physical contact, blocking a small portion of the cone won’t cause any issues. More of a cosmetic concern.
