Can someone please help me build a 8" subwoofer?

Hi, I've read lots, but I'm getting stumped on WinISD. Whenver I model something like this, I get ridiculous low Hz numbers and it cannot be right. Was hoping for some help. With this one, I can't even find the sd value for WinISD. Using these directions.

Do I just build a
  • Vented Volume1.275 ft.³
enclosure?

and something like this? Can it really get to 24Hz? Granted it won't be mind blowing, but I wanted something small to learn on.

Sorry to dump all this information, but I wasn't sure what to do. Thanks for any help.

It can easily reach 24hz, but at what spl? 24hz is more feel than hear. And when we go after feel you need more than that 8 can provide. You're better off with more spl at 30hz which you can actually use. Once you get winisd sorted out you can experiment with different port tuning to find the sweet spot for that driver+that amp+the box size you're comfortable with. I'm betting closer to 28hz but I didn't model it. I hate entering ts specs. Sorry.

You'll probably walk out of here with an 18.

Sure it can, but this is the trade off: Sensitivity 82.63 dB 1W/1m

You would also have to figure out the best way to fit something like a 3" x 23.6" port inside a 1.275 ft3 box. That also means accounting for the port volume which will make your box slightly bigger. Say a box that's 14"x15"x16" out of 3/4" material. Get a 3" pvc pipe and use a 3" pvc elbow fitting like this to make the port fit

Is SPL what you can "feel"? Is that measured in db?
