If you get an accurate frequency response, can I use post it on the Max page? I was also going to put a link to this thread because you really did a good job on explaining the build.
jbrown15 and wvu80 like this.

Didn't Tux have full measurements of the speaker in teh original thread? Or are you also adding some "user in-room" sort of measurements to the site?

Like cool said, just leave it. Or put it near where your ear would be using a boom stand. Your ear is shaped so you don't hear that dip in the response. And your brain is very good at hearing the difference between the direct response and the reflected response. Which is why I prefer to use room measurements only to look at 1. Comparisons, 2. Low frequencies. Also why I don't like how a lot of room correction software works. I audessey corrects for that null, you'll actually hear a peak. Thankfully, they'll gotten a lot better and don't hammer the response around too much.

My long way of saying, just ignore stuff like that. Focus on <500hz with a seat measurement.

He did post a graph in the Tux and Erich's new creation thread.

I took a quick measurement and tried to line up the mic as best I could. The XD screen is pretty transparent. This graph matches Tux's including the bump above 10khz.

Now there's no question it's working as intended.

FYI, the measurements of other tech details are kept here: http://www.diysoundgroup.com/forum/i...sg3920#msg3920

what adhesive are you using? if it's just titebond wood glue, 45 minutes to an hour is fine. if it's something like poly construction adhesive than I'd wait 12 hours

Does the flat pack dimensions take into account this kind of bracing and the volume it takes up? Basically, should I make the box a little bit deeper if I want to heavily brace it like coolrda did?

The area of my 4x 11"x11"x.75" bracing with 4x4" holes in each, subtracted, equals about 4x54cu in or 216 cu in total or one eighth of a cubic foot. That equates to less than 3/4" in depth added in comparison to no bracing at all. The difference is negligible so I wouldn't sweat that too much.

Ok. Thanks, coolrda. Your build looks awesome by the way. I think I'm going to make my boxes just a little bit bigger than the listed dimensions. 14 deep, 14 wide and 33 high with a 1/4" dado groove all the way around the front panels, hopefully the speaker baffle just pop right in there.

I get 2.8 Ft3 total internal volume without subtracting driver, waveguide, or bracing volume. Will the added volume also be a negligible difference or should I cut it down a bit?

Thanks. Yes, your fine with that size box. Your cabs will have an extended bottom. Looking forward to seeing your build.

Did you happen to get some measurements for the spacing on the bracing? I'm going to build my boxes before the kits get here and will cut dado groves for each of the braces. I'm wondering what height to put the braces at for the woofers and also the spacing for the waveguide.

I don't have the measurement. What I did was place the center two braces with baffle laying in place, then placed next braces equidistance between bottom and brace and top and brace if that makes sense. If you have the waveguide cutout dims, just add a little to that. Ryan or Erich should have those on request.

Coolrda,
I'm really liking your screen setup! Do you have a build thread on the theater itself? I tried searching but nothing came up.

Thank you. Not yet for two reasons. Haven't had time and and its very time consuming. I've started getting one together though with links to each of the DIY components.

With the center covering eighty percent of the program its appearing like I'll need to address this MBM thing at some point this year, after all other speaker builds are done. @EricH and company and anyone have any suggestions on a good match in a 1-2 driver arrayx2, one per each side of my center? Keep in mind the height and depth limits and DIY only of course.

Need more midbass? Or are you distorting the speaker? Have you seen my thread in the DIYsoundgroup forum: https://www.avsforum.com/#/forumsite/...1934809?page=1

Hi Tux, no on distortion. I don't think I could if I tried to distort it, its that strong plus the small room. Would just like to fill the 60/80-200hz a little better. The problem is the position in the room with the center being mid wall in both height and width. Not getting the reinforcement that the L&R are getting. The L&R to subs are fine with the corner loading. Center is pretty good but I want great. With play with the transition between the C10max and the subs more. I'm making some adjustments to the baffle wall this month and its made a difference over not having it so far. This speaker has really come along nicely.

Oh I see. Ya, I've found that in a lot of systems where the center has a very different modal behavior from the L&R. Often in the opposite way to you, where the near by sideways create a big suck out that is impossible to fix. MBMs are a great option.
