OK, I'll play. As I'm a single bloke, I need not be concerned with WAF or other frivolous distractions. In my mancave, form follows function.

Subwoofers in raw MDF are perfectly acceptable. Ugly professional audio amps are more than welcome. And massive DIY speaker cables are a must. Did I say massive?! The room actually looks a little different now. These pics are from October. A pair of Focal Chorus 826Vs are the mains and I've moved the subs to the sides of my listening area/couch.

Not only does my system have no WAF. I have actually dumped girls who have attempted to date me, just so that I could be with my speakers. (Not even joking.)

Who needs a Wife or GF when you have an internet connection connected to a 10ft screen to render pron at 120db with anyways?
Free and they do anything, anytime, without complaint!!! Then you can buy more gear with the money saved!

Then I flew into the sun and died... like a boss!

That is a beautiful setup. Very clean looking with the subs. Nice rug too. Have you messed around with toe-in? I bet those 1099's could benefit from a heavy angle, especially with the wall/window next to the left one.

Yeah, I try to keep my mouth shut when I see thread posts about happy wife/ happy life and she won't let me get x/y/z... My personal favorite is she won't let me x/y/z in my Man Cave! Then I think about all the women I see, daily, looking like they stepped off the page of some fashion magazine... looks to me like for many, the two way street of compromise has a detour on one side. No thanks, none for me. And don't get me started on "Man Cave"... I absolutely despise the saying. I want to yell out at the top of my lungs... "If you have to call it that, it is anything but!". It's like saying you have to retreat to some small part of the house to practice manlihood. Yes, I know... put on the flame suit... compromise... harmony... yadda, yadda, heard it before. That said, I do see beauty in symmetry of form; clean and minimalist. It should just be "Acceptance Factor" if compromise is the genesis, no one could/ should lay claim to ownership of the outcome.

Sooo... make it neat because you like to... or keep it rough and rugged cause that is who you are... but do you!!

I'm getting there....!!!

Mine isn't picture worthy by any stretch , because I'm in the process without worrying a bit about "acceptance factor" of anyone other than not scaring my neighbors dog and my totally accommodating landlord . She doesn't care what I do to the place including tearing down drywall and punching holes in the ceiling . My gear is in a quickly built rack , speakers are hanging from custom mounts I'm designing , I'm working on acoustic treatments , but sound is decent and the 120" image I get to watch without having to have a picture of the Eiffel Tower or Grandmas china cabinet forcing the need for a 32" or smaller TV is awesome . Girls that come here get the message really fast that I'm not going to be the kind that will ever be coerced into anything , so they can either enjoy themselves or find the door . The only girl that gets to control my theater setup is 9" tall , weighs 11# and loves watching zombie movies and barking at the undead when warranted . I really question some peoples idea of "compromise" , seems more like dictatorship to me , but hey , I guess you have someone to cuddle up with to watch a nice Rom-Com while I'm suffering .

How bout a 1-2 combo?

Here's a fusion 8 complete with 12AWG wire out of the port with custom milk crate stand atop of a SI 18 with piano black front and lacewood veneer.

I'll give it a shot

Hope I get the upload correct.

Garage with 3-way line arrays sitting on 15" PPSL subs, club mixer/CD player and Polka record over the window. Yes, my bench is a mess but it is a "working garage" so allowed.

The stack stands 7 feet 10 inches tall, works very well in the poor acoustics of a garage and sounds the same if I'm standing or sitting down.

The big uglies stay in the garage No problem, I don't feel like trashing my back moving them any time soon!

F'in classy! PLEASE tell me you are using a blue milk crate on the other side of the room , then it would really remind me of my old entertainment stand , one black , one blue milk crate , an old solid door , my 26" sony CRT and Panasonic VCR

Well neurologically men spend money to show women that we have resources to take care of wife and children. The problem is that the male brain works the same before successfully attracting a woman, and after. So we still want to spend money on upgrades even though we have a wife that would rather we spend all our resources feeding her and the children. Even if there aren't any children, or never going to be any children, or that the man is so rich the children will never want for anything, then its still the same in the brain of the woman (and the man). So a man wants to spend all his income no matter what it is, and a woman would rather he spend as little as possible no matter how much remains after the expenses.
The ironic thing is that women don't stop wanting to buy clothing and such to try to attract a man, even though she already has achieved just that. So she of course wants ten million shoes and everything, whereas the man wants a ten million dollar stereo. And neither party wants the other to get their will.

Of course, the man can't tell the woman any of this, because where he thinks he is saying "this is how our brains work", she will take it as him saying "this is how YOUR brain works and now I can have my stereo and you can't have your shoes". So both parties are sort of stuck with the opposite party's behavior unless both happens to stumble across the precise correct neuroscience papers, which even I forgot to bookmark. So basically we're stuck with this fact of life. Lets drink to that.

PS: Oh, and a bonus, if a man earn enough to literally stop working until retirement, the woman still properly dislikes him not working, because there was never any down-time for laziness in the stone-age. So any hour the man isn't working, or is just watching football or playing a game, is disliked behavior by the wife. If Bill Gates decides to not do ANYTHING for one day, his wife will probably get angry with him because in her stone-age brain she is about to die because the man didn't go hunting. The man of course wants to spend every day being lazy because that's a fine way to save calories for future famine.
uniquepattern and cubdenno like this.

cms, aka driver diaphragm suspension mechanical compliance: 0.000065 meter/Newton or in standard form 6.5e-05 m/N. (smaller number is better)
rms, aka driver diaphragm suspension mechanical resistance: 6.41 Newton.sec/meter. (higher number is better)

True,

Most wives always want you doing something--and building speakers tends not to count. To keep the wife at bay, I just hang out in the garage since it is no way wife friendly. Although guys can find tools stylish, generally speaking style tends to fly in the face of useful. Since a garage and work areas have to be useful, it is natural that men would tend to have the same style in garages.

Time to go to the garage and pull that mower out...
