1260s as MBM/Stands

Due to the price drop recently, I have begun to rethink the idea of 2 1260s as the bottom of a three way setup. How high do you guys think these could play? My avrs low pass only goes to 200hz but I like what I heard and I thing these could work as a part of a 2.2 setup. Any advice?

So if i go with a 2 cu.ft. net box with a single 4 in port at 25 hz I get 25ms wind speed, is that too high for this application?

Or I could go sealed as this would be strictly music only

I doubt anyone's used them as an proper midbass, so you'll need to measure for yourself.

1260s as MBM/Stands

I posted measurements of one of my 1260w subs in the More on Inductance thread. Here's the FR graph. This is in a 38.6 L sealed box. Note that the FR has a big peak around 60 Hz and is down something like 9 dB by 200Hz. Doesn't really seem like a good choice as a woofer in a 3-way. I'm still happy with my pair as bedroom subs, but I did have to heavily EQ them.

LTD02 and More is Better like this.

Thanks for that, @rhodesj . I guess then my stand idea as a 2.2 setup may be where I'm heading. I can still low pass at around 150 and have the mid play down to 100 or so.

How close to the cone did you place the mic to get such smooth response?

I recommend that you read Wayne Parham's flanking sub(s) approach. It's been a while since I read it but this seems to be a great choice when building a music not setup.

Did you go forward with your plan??
I am also starting a MBM build / experiment. I have 3 1262w, each will be in a sealed 1.5 cu ft box used as stands for the LCR mains.
They will be powered by one channel on Inuke 6000dsp, wired parallel/series to 6 ohm.
Just using for 50 to 150 range, I'm good in the below 50 department with my other subs.
Maybe I am wasting my time, maybe they will work great as cheap DIY MBMs.
Good Luck!

No, it is in a holding pattern right now as I am completely swamped with work.

just an fyi, something like the pa-460 would be a better choice for a mbm. the increase in sensitivity provides 10db+ per watt which then translates into higher spl with less compression.
