Speaker Project 1.0

Hey gang: I want a pair of speakers for my workshop and would like to get my feet wet in the DIY forum with a quick and easy-going project. Would you kindly offer recommendations for a set of vetted plans or kits?

Here's what I'm thinking:

Wall mountable
High efficiency
Off-the-shelf crossovers
Extension to 80 Hz
Budget of $500 or less (preferably less)

Here's what I'm working with:

Full wood shop
CNC
Basic soldering skill

I have a vintage receiver in another room that I will connect these to.

Thanks!

You really can't go wrong with any of these kits from the DIYsoundgroup.

Their waveguide speaker kits are very efficient and uniformly sound very good for the money. Find the size and cost to fit your situation and start building. Most have a matching flat pack so you can have a finished speaker in a minimum amount of time.

Their coaxial speakers are also very good, but I'm not sure if the efficiency is quite as good as the above speakers, but it is still better than most dome tweeter speakers.

Good building,
Mike
