I think I know the answer, but.....

What would sound and perform better. A SVS SB2000 or a DIY Ultimax 12 flat pack build from parts express with an Inuke 1000 or 3000?

My room is 13x18x9 and open on one end to the kitchen. Essentially it is going in a living room, so size is a huge factor. The DIY option would be as big as I can go. I want sealed as well, I just prefer it. It would be for tv, movies and music. Basically everyday type thing.

I like the SVS due to its size but I know I can get more out of the DIY route. Would it be a huge difference in performance and sound between the 2? Also which amp would be a better option?

Any input is recommended.

Just an FYI, I am not new to DIY as in my main theatre I have 4 Ultimax 15s in sealed boxes running off a CV-5000.

Thanks

Seems like a very close comparison. Depends on if you want an amp already having DSP or if the savings is worth the work of doing that yourself. Someone more qualified may have better input

Being in a LR, it comes down to how much effort you want to put into making them look pretty really.

I don't mind building it. And it is cheaper to do. But will there be a big difference? I won't be able to make it look as nice as the SVS and the SVS is smaller as well. Those are 2 pluses for it.

Just make the diy option smaller. Why does it have to be bigger?

I'd say the performance is gonna be slightly better on the DIY because the amp is gonna spit out more power and the woofer is probably a bit better. The SVS is a one click your done kinda thing.
